Life & Work with Ajia Munns of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ajia Munns.

Hi Ajia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all began with bedtime stories. As the middle child and a devoted older sister, I transformed our humble beginnings into entire worlds of magic. Though I didn’t realize it at the time, I was becoming a writer, creating stories straight from my imagination. Ceilings would open to the sky, floors would shift beneath our feet, and we could fly into festival-like wonders, all at our fingertips.

As I moved through life, I tried everything but writing until I found myself deeply bored and unhappy. That restlessness led me inward, where I discovered everything I had been searching for, including my path back to storytelling. In time, I created my own publishing house, The Good Ones, and published my first book, Star Light: When Our Love Becomes More, on October 10, 2024, a work created to open hearts and inspire love.

Looking inward also led me to create a wellness company that now serves people virtually, and all across Los Angeles, CA. In a way, I received double for my trouble.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, far from it. There were many moments when I questioned everything, finding solace in stories like Cinderella and Matilda. All I knew to do was keep moving forward, often with little to no support, especially financially. I learned to create what didn’t exist and turn it into something real.

I didn’t just publish my own book, I became my own publisher and distributor. I set out to support others’ mental health through meditation, offering clarity, insight, and, most importantly, a peaceful, centered mind. Along the way, I struggled at nearly every turn, learning every facet of running a business and sustaining growth.

At the same time, I was healing from deep wounds from childhood trauma while continuing to rise, becoming the woman I had always known I was meant to be. The rest of my story, my deeper struggles, will live in a book I will write one day. Until then, just know this: life almost broke me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m known for my storytelling and my work in the world of wellness. I specialize in creative writing, and on the mindfulness side, I lead group sessions centered on personal growth and self-realization.

What I’m most proud of is the life I’ve built, the way I live it and the positive impact I have on others. I didn’t let my hardships harden me, and that’s harder than one might think! I’m especially proud of my children’s book, Star Light: When Our Love Becomes More. To me, it holds the iconicness of Michal Jackson’s Thriller, the wisdom of The Alchemist, and the heart of The Giving Tree.

What sets me apart? My mother says that when I was born, the nurse looked at me and cried. I think that says it all.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love all the above. My best email is [email protected] and please keep in touch via Instagram (@ajiamunns)
