Life and Work with Toriann Vu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toriann Vu.

Toriann, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
All my life, I knew my future was destined for me to inspire people. I know for a fact, being brought up into this world, everything was put around me for a reason. I was raised around fashion influences like my mom, entrepreneurs with strong morals like my dad, and grown into a family line capable of many different artistic talents. These catalysts strongly impacted me and brought me to where I am today. Creating content has been the fastest growing thought that I have ever imagined in my head as well as the first thing that I have decided to commit to out of sheer belief in myself. Everything from styling, preparing myself to be confident in my own skin, and directing my vision to be put into life has never felt so effortless to me. Every photo I continue to create and share is my way of expressing my art to the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
Creating content is not as easy as it looks. Don’t be surprised when you’re expected to spend long nights planning before a shoot. Being put in uncomfortable situations, being in numerous creative blocks, and fighting to feel good about yourself when results don’t come out the way you expect. This is all a part of the process and trust me when I say, struggles are meant to happen to lead us to success. You being insecure about your body in the photo but accepting yourself is to persist, your vision not being executed but you try again the next day is to persist, you waking up at 6 am to create because of your 9-5 job is to persist. If you believe in yourself and your craft, get ready to focus on being persistent, because at the end of the day, if you really love something, you should be unstoppable no matter what.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I create content revolving around fashion, lifestyle, and travel. Everything I do, I do with the intention of setting myself apart whether it be my caption, how to interact with my followers or doing something that’s unconventional in my photos. Normally, when people approach me regarding my photos, they tell me I have a way of putting photos together on my feed that is beautiful and “aesthetically pleasing”. Being on social media, I’m able to connect with people and impact them in ways I never thought I could. To me, that is what I’m most proud of.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
As a child, I went through many tough times. Despite the negative experiences endured, I still had a strong knowing in myself that I would always be successful. This knowingness turned into a mindset and as days passed, I was positive for everything bad that came into my life. So, to sum it all up, my childhood turned me into a pretty cool and driven optimist!
