Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Nimoy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started as an actor, graduating NYU in 1988 and moving to LA immediately afterwards. I put together a very nice Emmy-winning career in voice-over as an actor, writer, producer, and director. Then one day, a massive headache changed my life. Turns out I had a brain tumor. And after successful surgery, I decided to move my bucket list up to top priority in my life. And number one on my bucket list was to make a movie. And after a near-death experience, I was done asking permission. I approached talented people to join me, and my pitch to them was “I have no money. I can’t guarantee anyone will ever see this movie. I can’t guarantee this movie will even be good, but I’m tired of asking for permission to make a movie, and if you’re tired, too, please join me.” And many of them did. So, I took a year off to make the movie. I wrote “Fame-ish,” a romantic comedy set at an anime convention. And after it was made, it got picked up by Random Media for worldwide digital distribution. I’m very proud of it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Aside from having a brain tumor? Lol. The struggles were plentiful. I was recovering from brain surgery, producing a movie by myself, learning all my leading man lines, and convincing other people to work for free. The whole thing was a struggle.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most known for my work in the anime genre. Anime is a Japanese style of animation that is very popular in English-speaking countries as well as Japan. I adapt the scripts and direct the voice talent for the English Language versions of shows like Digimon, Naruto, and Bleach, just to name a few. I’m also a voice actor, and my biggest roles are Tentomon from Digimon, and Nicholas D. Wolfwood, from Trigun. I’ve worked on the biggest shows, and the American fans have dubbed me “The Spielberg of Anime,” which I spoof in my independent film, “Fame-ish.”

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Determination. Collaboration. Adaptation.
