Life and Work with Daniela Baldwin Vega

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Baldwin Vega.

Daniela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a 23-year-old living in West LA and working in the beauty industry. I am originally from northern California but always knew I would make it down south as I love the warm weather, palm trees and overall vibe of Los Angeles.

Before moving to Los Angeles, I lived in Boulder, Colorado where I studied Public Relations at CU Boulder… sko buffs. 🙂 I now work for a beauty brand, specifically on the marketing and social media side.

I got to where I am today by pushing myself out of my comfort zones, connecting with like-minded women and being resourceful. I’ve never had any connections to the industry that I am currently in, so those are the things that really helped me get to where I am today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a young woman myself, I am still learning how to navigate living in a big city, cultivating a successful career path and finding time to have fun. I’m sure a lot of young women out there feel the same way.

With that being said, something that has helped me a lot has been networking and getting involved in things outside of work and school. Go to that networking event. Ask that person out for coffee. Cultivate a hobby that is meaningful to you.

My biggest piece of advice is to be resourceful. It is easier than ever now to connect with people. Find people online and in real life that inspires you and reaches out. Something I always tell myself is “The worst thing they can say is no”. In my experience, getting a no from someone feels a lot better than never reaching out.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I have always had a passion for beauty and wellness. After I graduated from college, I wanted to find a job that allowed me to work in these fields and combine them with what I studied in school. I currently specialize in social media coordinating and management. My work is really meaningful to me because I get to connect and talk with women who admire the brand, are exploring their creativity through makeup and just want to feel beautiful.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Network.Network.Network!!!

I believe that going out of your way to meet people who inspire you is always worth it. Do not be afraid to reach out to someone via Instagram or LinkedIn. This can definitely be intimidating, but the more you put yourself out there, the easier it gets. I have met some intelligent, hardworking and driven women on social media who have presented me with amazing opportunities.
