Today we’d like to introduce you to Cole Patterson.

Hi Cole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Self care has always been important to me and health and wellness part of my lifestyle. My interest in maintaining youthful skin and managing a healthy body led me to finding my passion in skincare. My love for skin care gave me insight on how black men were disregarded when it came to grooming, skincare and wellness while working behind the scenes. I saw a lack of concern to help black men with their skincare issues and concerns. I stepped up to fill the void to formulate a solution to help black men have better skin and eliminate problematic skin. After researching the industry and having expertise in skincare and knowledge, I knew I wanted black men to have an option that catered to their skin therefore I created and formulated Cole Skincare for Men, small batch company to address the specific issues black men face daily. As personal makeup artist/groomer for multi-platinum music artist Usher for more than a decade has afforded me the ability work with artists, actors and athletes.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, I will say the most difficult part about creating, developing and launching a skincare line is the amount of time and dedication I had to put into it. It hasn’t been smooth but it hasn’t been as difficult. I believe the most difficult part was trying to balance and maintain my lifestyle and create a premium brand. Being conflicted on making a choice to work in the business and continue to take projects out town on set demanded a lot of my time. I believed I could do them both and still maintain a certain level of success but not until today I realize I actually was playing myself short by not stepping into in 100%. I thought maintaining my industry relationships and working behind the scenes would help get the word out and my business would blow up and that was the furtherest from the truth. The struggle I faced was walking away from something that was easy and afforded me access now creating my own lane to do it all by myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am best known for my profession as a makeup artist particularly Usher’s personal makeup artist/groomer due to my many years of working with him and traveling the world. What sets me apart from others is my knowledge about skincare and my men’s grooming technique that has been my secret formula to success as one of the industry top men’s grooming professionals in the entertainment industry. I am most proud of Cole Skincare for Men which I created, formulated and developed all by myself from conception to launch. I maintain 100% ownership and control of my company to this date. Most people know me for having the ability to keep men natural on camera where it looks like they have on NO makeup and the results I’ve been able to accomplish with helping men have blemish-free skin both on camera and off.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next five years or sooner, Cole Skincare for Men expansion is on the way and fully functioning as one of the most renowned black-owned companies in the industry owned by a black women. Cole Skincare for Men will employ and train others that are looking to create their own product line as I will have transitioned to directing and creating content independent filmmaker. Currently, the ball is rolling in this direction with my team Lamese Williams and Sharon Barathwaite and I are currently in pre-production for a Christmas Film shooting this summer 2021.
