Today we’d like to introduce you to Sushie Tran.
Hi Sushie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
10 years ago I planned my own wedding and somehow loved every minute of it. I started planning weddings part time after that while working as a full time retail manager.
After being able to spend time at home during the lockdown, I realized I actually liked being a home body, making my own schedule and being able to make my own decisions. I was soooo scared of stepping away from stability, paid insurance, 401k, a set schedule and having someone present with me the right and wrongs of how to do my job. My better half motivated me and convinced me I could become a full fledge business owner and pursue my dreams. Retail would always be there but the momentum I started to have with my part time business had a lot of potential that I should chase. I decided I would take the leap of faith, I wanted to be remembered as a somebody and be part of people’s love story on the internet forever.
Fast forward, I resigned from my job after dedicating 25 years of my life to retail. I went from a stable income to sometimes earning $0 a month. For the past 4 years I achieved so much and at the peak of my career, I then was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last July 2025.
I spent the last year, with support from my wife, family, and friends continuing to build this dream of mine. There were extremely awful days, sad days, and happy days too. I pushed through, finished my treatment all while continuing to plan weddings.
I am obsessed with my career but took a step back and learned to have bounderies. I learned that it’s okay not to answer a text or email instantly. I told myself it’s okay to sleep more. It’s okay to take an extra day off. It’s okay to say no and most importantly I need to pick myself. Being a business owner is a lonely rough journey sometimes, it’s not always glamorous but I will never regret my decision.
As a full time business owner, triple negative breast cancer survivor, cat mom of 5 and wife to the best human on earth I think everyone should seriously do what they want. Say what’s on your mind, pick yourself, hustle but be humble.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Doing chemotherapy while planning created memory loss and brain fog at times.
Slow months created a lot of anxiety of no income.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in planning weddings and customizing my couple’s needs to exactly what they hope and envision.I am obbessed with budgeting and I am transparent, blunt and upfront with the dos and donts. I never try to overspend or steer my couple’s a certain way. I am most proud of how special every one of my couple’s feel. I never put in any less effort for any of the weddings.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
99% of my couples miss me when the wedding is over and they feel like they lost a bestie.
