Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Lin.
Hi Stephanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Thanks so much for inviting me to share. I’m Stephanie Lin, founder of My Asian Nanny, a Los Angeles–based referral nanny agency focused on postpartum care and live-in nannies, with a special emphasis on Chinese “zuo yue zi” (confinement) traditions.
My journey started very organically. I watched friends and families struggle in those first weeks after birth—sleep deprived, overwhelmed, unsure how to find trustworthy help that respected their culture and language. Parents would reach out to me asking if I knew someone who could provide not only baby care but also traditional postpartum meals, breastfeeding support, and reassurance for anxious new parents.
At first, I connected them informally with trusted caregivers from my own network. Soon, one successful match turned into three, three became ten, and pretty soon I was spending my nights refining checklists, vetting references, and building a real process. It was then that I realized there was a much bigger need: families weren’t just looking for help, they were looking for a structured and safe way to find the right caregiver. That’s how My Asian Nanny was born. I built a transparent intake and interview process, set clear standards around newborn safety and caregiver rest, and leaned into cultural competence as a strength, not an afterthought. Today, we’ve grown into a trusted agency for families who want both professional care and cultural understanding in those critical early weeks.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been education—many parents don’t know the difference between a night nurse, postpartum nanny, or doula. Misaligned expectations can cause stress on both sides. To address this, we focused on simple, clear explanations and written agreements that outline what’s included in care.
Another challenge has been balancing cultural traditions with modern pediatric guidance. For example, some families want traditional recovery foods while also following Western medical recommendations. We’ve learned to bridge those worlds with flexibility and communication.
Finally, building a vetted network of caregivers has been a challenge in itself. It’s not just about skill—it’s about heart, reliability, and cultural sensitivity. We’ve developed mentorship between veteran confinement nannies and newer caregivers, and we continue to refine our vetting process. Every struggle has taught us to be more transparent, more structured, and more family-centered.
As you know, we’re big fans of My Asian Nanny. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
About My Asian Nanny
What we do: My Asian Nanny is a nanny referral agency that connects families in the Greater Los Angeles (and out of state) with experienced postpartum nannies and night nurses, many of whom specialize in Chinese confinement care. Our caregivers provide 24/7 newborn support, traditional recovery meals for moms, light baby-related housekeeping, and gentle coaching so that new parents feel supported and empowered.
What sets us apart:
Cultural competence and inclusiveness: We believe in quality care that is accessible, affordable, and inclusive. Serving diverse communities in Los Angeles, California, and beyond. We honor postpartum traditions while balancing modern safety practices.
Transparency: Families interview candidates directly via Zoom or at our office in Monterey Park, CA before choosing, so they feel confident and informed.
Support system: We don’t just make a match and walk away—we provide ongoing guidance, education, and resources throughout the placement.
What we’re known for: Our ability to deliver peace of mind. Families often tell us that our caregivers didn’t just care for the baby—they restored balance to the whole household.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise: That our matches come from word-of-mouth referrals. Families recommend us because they genuinely felt supported, and that’s the best compliment we could ever receive.
What I want readers to know is simple: Postpartum support isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline. The right caregiver helps families transition into parenthood with less stress, better rest, and more confidence. Giving your little one and yourself the peace of mind and care you deserve.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people are surprised to learn that I never originally planned to work in childcare services at all—I thought I’d end up in corporate operations or business consulting. But God had other plans. The skills I built there—systems thinking, organization, and problem-solving—turned out to be exactly what I needed to create a structured and trustworthy referral process for families. In many ways, My Asian Nanny was born from blending a business background with a personal passion for helping families.
Another thing people don’t expect is that I’m actually an introvert. Running an agency means I’m constantly interviewing candidates, talking with families, and advocating for postpartum care, but it’s my quiet, reflective nature that helps me listen deeply and notice details others might miss. Those small things often make the difference between a good match and a perfect one.
Above all, I feel blessed beyond measure. This journey has been entirely by the grace of God. What started as something small has grown into a calling—helping families during one of the most vulnerable and important times of their lives. I give all credit to Him, because without His guidance and provision, none of this would have been possible.
