Today we’d like to introduce you to Roman Gorianskii.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are a husband-and-wife team based in Los Angeles, and together we founded Cosmic Eye, a creative photography business that transforms the unique patterns of the human iris into personalized works of art.
Our journey started with a shared passion for photography, creativity, and bringing something truly unique to people. We opened our own studio in Hollywood, where we had the opportunity to meet thousands of wonderful people and capture something incredibly personal — the beauty hidden inside their eyes.
Over time, our business evolved beyond the traditional studio experience. We began bringing our iris photography to festivals, pop-up markets, private celebrations, and corporate events across the country. We’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with major brands, connect with amazing communities, and create meaningful artwork for people from all walks of life.
Today, Cosmic Eye continues to grow through events, corporate experiences, and online orders. As a small, independently owned business, we handle everything ourselves, from photography and creative production to customer experience and event planning.
What makes this journey special to us is seeing people’s reactions when they discover how beautiful and unique their own eyes really are. Our goal has always been to turn something ordinary into an unforgettable experience and a lasting piece of art.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road! Like many small business owners, we’ve faced plenty of challenges, learned from mistakes, and had to adapt along the way.
One of our biggest challenges was figuring out how to turn a creative idea into a sustainable business. When we opened our studio in Hollywood, we quickly realized that being passionate about photography was only a small part of running a business. We had to learn everything from marketing and customer service to managing expenses, developing our own photography techniques, and finding ways to reach new customers.
Another major turning point was deciding to close our physical studio in 2024. It wasn’t an easy decision, but rising operating costs and the desire to explore new opportunities pushed us to rethink our business model. Instead of relying on one location, we started traveling to festivals, pop-up markets, and private and corporate events.
That transition came with its own challenges. Traveling with equipment, managing unpredictable event schedules, and handling everything as a small team can be exhausting. Some events are incredibly successful, while others don’t go as planned.
But looking back, every challenge has helped us become more flexible, creative, and resilient. We’ve learned that running a business isn’t about having everything figured out from the beginning. It’s about constantly learning, adapting, and being willing to take risks.
We’re still learning every day, and that’s part of what makes this journey so exciting.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Cosmic Eye Iris Photo?
Cosmic Eye Iris Photo is a Los Angeles-based, family-owned business specializing in transforming the unique patterns and colors of the human iris into personalized works of art.
We create high-quality iris photography, custom artwork, and unique products, including acrylic and metal prints, canvas art, and personalized jewelry. We also combine irises of couples, families, and friends into meaningful artistic compositions.
What makes us different is that we bring this experience directly to people through corporate events, weddings, private celebrations, festivals, and pop-up markets across the United States. We offer both instant iris photography, where guests receive their prints within minutes, and professional high-resolution photography for premium artwork.
We also offer a convenient online service that makes iris photography accessible to anyone, anywhere. No studio visit or professional equipment is required! Customers can simply take a close-up photo of their eye using a smartphone, send it to us, and we transform it into beautiful, personalized artwork delivered digitally or as a physical product.
We’re proud to have worked with major companies, including Google, and to have grown from a small Hollywood studio into a nationwide event experience and online business serving customers across the country.
As a husband-and-wife team, we’re personally involved in every aspect of our business. What we love most is seeing people’s reactions when they discover the incredible beauty hidden in their own eyes.
