Inspiring Conversations with Robbin Turner of Violet Botanical Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robbin Turner.

Hi Robbin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Violet Botanical Skincare started right at home—with my family. My husband and son both struggled with dry, eczema-prone skin, and nothing seemed to help. I remember standing in the pharmacy aisle, reading the back of jar after jar, wondering why the only options were greasy, petroleum-based creams or steroid ointments. That just didn’t sit right with me. Their skin deserved better—something gentle, nourishing, and deeply supportive without harsh chemicals.

As a wife and mother, I couldn’t look at their discomfort and do nothing. But as a trained herbalist and botanical formulator, I knew I could do something.

That’s when the real journey began.

I went back to my roots—literally. I began crafting formulas using African ancestral plant wisdom—ingredients that have been used for generations to soothe, protect, and restore the skin. I studied how they worked together, not just on a chemical level, but in harmony. I wanted to create body care that felt soft and rich on the skin, that absorbed beautifully, and left your body feeling comforted and calm—not coated, not irritated.

But beyond what’s in the jar, we offer something deeper: peace of mind. A sense of ease. The comfort of finally finding something that works. We help our customers feel at home in their skin again. We help them reconnect with the joy of healthy, glowing skin—and remind them that caring for their body isn’t a luxury. It’s a way to feel whole.

Violet Botanical Skincare is more than a brand. It’s a personal mission, a celebration of heritage, and a call to return to what’s real, natural, and nourishing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but it’s been a meaningful one.

Building Violet Botanical Skincare has stretched me in every possible way. As a self-funded founder, I wear every hat: formulator, fulfillment team, marketing department, customer service, sales… you name it. One moment I’m blending botanical oils, the next I’m packing orders, answering emails, and planning social content. While I love the intimacy of being so hands-on, the reality is—limited capacity is my biggest challenge. Without a team or outside funding, growing the brand and building awareness in a crowded market often feels like trying to plant seeds in dry soil.

But the hardest part? The isolation.

Before launching Violet Botanical, I was a stay-at-home mom for 17 years. I didn’t have access to a network of peers or mentors. No coffee chats. No industry mixers. No insider introductions to investors or retail buyers. I had to figure things out alone—step by step, misstep by misstep. That isolation made the road feel even steeper.

But over the past couple of years, I’ve started to find those guiding voices and supportive spaces. Bit by bit, I’ve built a community—people who understand the journey and believe in the mission. And that support has made all the difference.

Every late night, every hard-earned sale, every message from someone whose skin finally feels calm and cared for—those moments remind me why I started.

I created Violet Botanical to offer more than skincare. I created it to offer a sense of peace. A moment of relief. The feeling of being seen and supported in your skin. And that’s what keeps me going—even when the road isn’t smooth.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Violet Botanical Skincare, we make body care for people who are tired of products that feel like a temporary fix. If you’ve ever dealt with dry, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin, you know how frustrating it is to cycle through greasy creams or harsh formulas that leave your skin feeling coated—but not truly cared for.

That’s why everything we create is rooted in African ancestral plant wisdom. Our body butters, oils, washes, and bath soaks are handcrafted with nutrient-rich ingredients like Nilotica shea butter, Marula oil, and Baobab—plants that have nourished skin for generations. They’re rich, creamy, and deeply hydrating—never greasy, never harsh.

We’re known for helping people feel good in their skin again. Whether it’s our Queen of Flowers Body Butter with its whipped texture and subtle floral notes, or our Eczema Butter that’s calm in a jar for irritated skin, every product is made with intention and care. We don’t believe in quick fixes—we believe in daily rituals that support long-term skin health and peace of mind.

You can shop our full line directly at violetbody.net, or visit us in person at the ATLAS Store in Westfield Century City Mall in Los Angeles. We also offer sample kits so you can try a little of everything.

What sets Violet Botanical apart is the feeling behind every jar and bottle—comfort, ease, and the quiet joy of finally finding something that works. We’re here to help you reconnect with the glow, softness, and confidence that’s always been yours.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s one thing I’d share with anyone reading—it’s this: you don’t have to have it all figured out to start. I didn’t. I just knew I wanted to create something real and healing. Whether you’re launching a business, changing directions, or simply trying to care for yourself a little more deeply—it’s okay to grow slow. It’s okay to grow soft. Just don’t stop growing.
