Inspiring Conversations with Rebecca Masor of Bodywork Energetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Masor.

Hi Rebecca, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I walked into my massage therapist’s treatment room for my first session, something in me clicked with confidence. “This could be me!” I thought. At the time I was helping run the maintenance department for a property management team in the Los Angeles area. That was the year something had woken up inside me wanting more; I was craving independence, and I was yearning to be making a difference that was meaningful to me. So, I planned my transition, got myself into massage therapy school, and began my life’s new chapter. Along the way, I expanded my tool-kit, training with Biofield Tuning for sound therapy, and with the Geo Love Healing program at Authentic Living for energy work. Was I able to fulfill my desire to do something more meaningful? You bet! Being a massage therapist is a career that both gives back to others, and fills my heart with satisfaction.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m in the thick of one right now, which is learning how to reach out to community and introduce myself. Even though I’m scared to do it, there is something within me that is holding me accountable, and won’t let me run away from it. I find myself being reminded that all new skills require practice.

Another challenge: When I first began my training as a massage therapist, I found myself comparing my skill level to the more advanced students, and was left feeling incompetent. I didn’t understand at the time that, just because me and my classmates were all taking the same introductory course, it didn’t mean we all shared the same level of skill and experience. I had to learn to associate my development as its own unfolding, and not compare it’s process to those around me.

The last one I want to share is about second-guessing myself. I had it in my head for a long time that the work I do requires something greater outside myself in order for it to be effective. But, like Dorothy in the Great Wizard of Oz, I learned that what I needed to be confident in my work was inside me all along.

As you know, we’re big fans of Bodywork Energetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I offer a variety of massage therapy treatments including Swedish, Deep tissue, and Integrative. I also offer sound therapy attunements and energy medicine sessions.

What matters most to you? Why?
Through the lens of the massage therapist, what matters is that you are bringing movement into your body. We experience pain, when energy becomes stagnated. Energy wants to move! So, move it. Find the ways that bring you relief and vitality.
