Hi Mercedes, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my hospitality career by attending a hospitality-focused high school in Las Vegas. At the age of 15, my junior year in high school, I became the youngest certified wedding coordinator on The Las Vegas Strip. Which earned me a full-ride scholarship to the Harrah School of Hospitality at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Upon graduation, I joined the best of the best, Four Seasons Resorts International. Like many, when Covid hit, I lost my Sales position and decided to merge my passion for hospitality and admiration for real estate. Three years later, MBX Homes is growing strong as one of the leading Vacation home (Airbnb co-hosting) companies in LA! Not only do we host Airbnb, we market our homes to location scouts for large-scale productions and mid-term stays. MBX Homes is a full-scale vacation home company – we help our clients design, source products, install, photograph and then of course get an ROI!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has the MOST potholes! HA. Being a commission-based business, we of course have slower months. When the slower months happen, we get creative and learn different pricing strategies. Our pricing and strategies come from both the real estate and tourism markets. Additionally, this is a human-to-human business – therefore, a minimal mistake can impact an entire reservation. It is crucial that we practice to make perfect within our teams and practice consistent coaching!
