Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Abu-mansour
Hi Maya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From Finance to Fitness to Real Estate: A Journey Built on Community, Dedication, and Passion
My career path has been anything but linear, but every step of the way has been a valuable piece of the puzzle that’s led me to where I am today – a real estate agent in Sherman Oaks, Studio City and the immediate surrounding areas.
I spent the first decade of my career in finance, working in the fast-paced, high-stakes world of film and television. In that environment, every decision mattered, and the pressure to perform was constant. I learned how to think quickly, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and navigate complex negotiations under tight deadlines. Those skills have been absolutely critical in real estate, where the ability to act swiftly, stay organized and guide clients through the often stressful process of buying or selling a home is essential.
Alongside my finance career, I’ve always had a passion for fitness, the key component to physical and mental health. Teaching classes at Equinox Studio City has allowed me to build meaningful relationships with people in my community and help them reach their personal goals. It’s not just about physical fitness – it’s about creating a supportive environment where people can thrive. This sense of connection and impact has been a huge asset in my transition into real estate. Building trust with clients is everything, and my experience in fitness has given me the tools to foster genuine relationships, listen closely to people’s needs and offer personalized support.
Growing up in the valley, I’m deeply connected to the area I now serve. I’ve watched this vibrant community grow and it’s a place I’m truly passionate about. I want to help people who love this neighborhood as much as I do find their dream homes and make those same connections. Real estate isn’t just about transactions for me – it’s about helping people make a long-term investment in their future and their community.
Now, I combine my background in finance, my passion for fitness and my love for the Sherman Oaks/Studio City community to guide my clients with confidence and care. Whether it’s negotiating the best deal, providing expert advice or simply listening to what a family needs, I’m dedicated to helping others on their journey to homeownership.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many career transitions, the path wasn’t without its challenges. Moving from a fast-paced finance career to real estate required a complete shift in mindset, from numbers and spreadsheets to understanding the emotional and personal aspects of homeownership. And balancing my role as a fitness instructor with the demands of a growing real estate business was no small feat either. But every obstacle taught me valuable lessons in time management, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance – all of which have only made me a stronger, more resilient real estate agent today.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
While I don’t rely on luck, I do believe that opportunities often come when preparation meets hard work and where there is FAITH. In my life and business, success has come from staying focused, consistently putting in the effort and BELIEVING. I’ve always believed that if you create the right circumstances and stay persistent, the outcomes will follow, often in ways you least expect. It’s less about luck and more about creating your own opportunities, visualizing your dreams coming true and staying the course.
