Inspiring Conversations with Max of Best-Selling Author of “Start Over to Win”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Max.

Max, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

I was born and raised in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa. I survived a traumatic brain injury at four years old that left me having to relearn how to walk, hear, and navigate the world around me. I struggled with memory loss, hearing impairment, and cultural stigma.

While dealing with that I taught myself how to learn by observing people, reading lips, and adapting through adversity. After losing my mother and immigrating to the United States, I faced many years of instability, working as a janitor while rebuilding my life from the ground up.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

No journey is ever smooth. Through every setback, I developed the mindset and frameworks you will find in my book Start Over to Win. This is more than a book, it’s my philosophy of doing the good work. The ability to embrace scarcity and turn it into strength. Most people wait for the perfect conditions to launch a dream, change careers, or start over. They wait for more capital, a bigger support system, or flawless timing. But life isn’t linear, and neither is execution.

If you are waiting for the “perfect time,” you are letting uncertainty hold you back from your next win. Scarcity isn’t a permanent roadblock; it is a competitive advantage if you know how to flip it. Inside Start Over to Win, I deliver the exact, battle-tested blueprint to navigate life when original plans fall apart through the frameworks in my book.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Outside of being a best-selling author, I am the current President and Chief Executive Officer of A Bright Future, Inc., The organization embodies the commitment to “Reach Higher.” My mission is to inspire others to strive for excellence. I am dedicated to creating a culture of possibility, encouraging the entire community to embrace challenges, exceed expectations, and achieve personal growth. My journey from educator to CEO demonstrates dedication to making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities and a vision of a brighter, more inclusive future.
