Today we’d like to introduce you to Juanita Tomlinson.
Hi Juanita, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I, unfortunately, have allergies to a few different materials like acrylic and polyester. I get different reactions such as hives, breathing issues, dry skin, etc. I struggled with finding nice clothes that were affordable and were made with genuine materials. At some point a light bulb went off and I thought maybe I should start my own clothing line! Welp, here I am!
I started my own dog brand instead. I absolutely adore dogs, so why not do something for something I love. I still hold on to the same value of genuine and natural products and accessories. Initially, I made matching cotton shirts for pups and their pawrents, which did well. However, in 2022 I made a big change with Dalisay Pure. I rebranded it to a luxury dog brand and started my own product line. I didn’t see growth for Dalisay Pure’s future at some point. I was really down and didn’t know what to do next. With some inspiration from seeing other boss babes and some talks with God I knew exactly what I wanted to do and I did it! Now my future growth looks endless and I’ve accomplished so much in such a little time. From events to booked media segments… I am so overjoyed. The feedback on my new products has been amazing and a big motivational push. I also invested in a mentor with the knowledge that I needed to succeed. I tried to do everything myself before and well, I am much further now because of a worthy investment in knowledge. If I would have succumed to my doubt and temptation to just be lazy, I wouldn’t be where I am now and I wouldn’t feel this accomplished. One of the best parts about what I am doing is being a black and indian women in the pet industry. That is not common and I will help push that door open wide. You have to speak the positivity into existence! I have so much to achieve and I am excited for Dalisay Pure.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish it was a smooth sailing being a business owner, but I think that’s rare. That would be the dream! One issue I had was wanting to just sell my product on my own website. I have learned that it is good to sell on multiple platforms. That way you can reach a greater audience and get your brand out there, It’s not that easy to get traffic to a not so popular website.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Dalisay Pure is a luxury dog brand owned by a minority women striving to bring positive change and motivation to many. All of my products are made with the best interest for dogs. I myself have many allergies to materials, foods, etc. Dogs are similar to us humans and they suffer from allergies as well. My products are made with genuine materials and natural ingredients to help prevent irritation. I currently have matching cotton rope leashes and collars and bed/accessory refresher mist. I definitely plan to expand my products and have variety. I love using my business to help out the community and donate to local dog rescues and do whatever I am able to do.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I can see a bigger focus on healthy products and diversity in the owners like myself.
