Today we’d like to introduce you to George Haroonian

Hi George, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started with my father and two brothers in January 1976. I am the only remaining founder of the business. The business has covered all aspects of the hand made rug business. Import, wholesale, trade and retail. We also have a carpet department including custom made rugs and custom size. We also install wall to wall carpeting.
We moved to our present location about 30 years ago. Where inside the Antique Guild and have been in present location after moving out of the Antique Guild .

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No it has not been a smooth road. Have seen few economic up and downs, change in trends in the business, mistakes in understanding these changes, personal challenges with economic issues, family business matters, Corona and technology changes, to name a few.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a family established business. Since 1976 in Los Angeles and since 1922 where my grandfather started exporting rugs from Iran to various markets and my father continued until the family moved to America as immigrants.
We are specialized in finer quality hand made rugs . All these years we have provided rugs and related services to hundreds and thousands of homes and offices in Southern California and other locations through out United States as well as Europe, Japan, China, Mexico and South America.
We pride ourselves in this history and the fact that we treat our clients with good service and make sure they are satisfied. We select rugs that are suitable to color and design trends as well as our specialty in fine new, vintage and antique rugs.

What matters most to you? Why?
For me, making connection to other human beings and providing an item that makes their rooms warmer and more comfortable is the ultimate satisfaction. Without this connection to the subjective side of other people, the business is meaningless. I could not do this business if I would think of customers as numbers . They like me are human beings with all the possible issues that one may have.
