Inspiring Conversations with Dianna Graves of Mom Loves Travel Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dianna Graves.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey in the travel industry began with my love of travel and my desire to help others experience the world in meaningful ways. I founded Mom Loves Travel more than a decade ago, turning my passion into a business dedicated to helping families and travelers create unforgettable memories.

Over the years, I’ve grown my business by building relationships with clients, learning the ins and outs of the industry, and continually expanding my knowledge of destinations, suppliers, and travel experiences. I believe travel is about more than booking flights, hotels, or cruises. It’s about creating experiences, bringing families together, celebrating milestones, and making memories that last a lifetime.

As the owner of Mom Loves Travel, I’ve also developed a passion for mentoring and supporting other travel advisors as they build their own businesses. I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned, helping others navigate the industry, and encouraging them to grow with confidence.

Today, I’m proud to serve as a travel advisor, business owner, and President of the Greater Sacramento ASTA chapter. My experience has taught me the importance of advocacy, education, relationships, and always putting the traveler first.

My goal has always been to be more than someone who books a trip. I want to be my clients’ travel advocate—someone they can trust to guide them through the process, solve problems, and help turn their travel dreams into meaningful experiences. I’m excited to continue growing, learning, and helping both travelers and fellow advisors succeed in this incredible industry.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many in the travel industry, COVID-19 was one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a business owner. Watching travel come to a standstill, dealing with cancellations, navigating ever-changing restrictions, and helping clients through uncertain times tested my patience, resilience, and commitment to my business.

Beyond COVID, the economy, rising travel costs, and the state of the world have continued to create challenges. Travelers are more cautious, prices continue to fluctuate, and uncertainty around global events can make people hesitant to plan their next vacation. As a travel advisor, I have to stay informed, adapt to changes, and help my clients feel confident about their travel decisions.

Running a business also means constantly learning, finding new ways to grow, and balancing the needs of my clients with the responsibilities of being an entrepreneur. There have been difficult days, but I’ve learned that you have to keep moving forward, even when things don’t go as planned.

Another challenge has been helping other travel advisors understand that success takes time, education, and commitment. I want my team to feel supported and confident, and I’ve learned that everyone grows at a different pace.

These experiences have reinforced why I do what I do. Travel is more than a vacation; it creates memories, brings families together, and gives people something to look forward to. I’m proud that Mom Loves Travel has continued through these challenges, and I remain committed to advocating for my clients, supporting my fellow travel advisors, and helping people experience the world. The road hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has made me stronger and more determined to keep going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mom Loves Travel Agency ?
As the owner of Mom Loves Travel, I specialize in family travel, group travel, and destinations throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. I also enjoy helping clients plan destination weddings, family celebrations, and vacations that bring multiple generations together. I take the time to understand each client’s needs, preferences, and budget so I can help create a trip that feels personal rather than one-size-fits-all.

What sets Mom Loves Travel apart is the personal attention and advocacy I provide. I want my clients to know they have someone in their corner—not just when they’re booking their vacation, but throughout the planning process and when unexpected challenges arise. Travel can be complicated, and having someone who understands the industry, helps navigate options, and works to find solutions can make a real difference.

I’m also passionate about helping others succeed in the travel industry. Beyond serving my clients, I support and mentor travel advisors as they develop their knowledge, build their businesses, and gain confidence. My involvement as President of the Greater Sacramento ASTA chapter reflects my commitment to professional development, education, protecting and strengthening our industry.

What I’m most proud of about the Mom Loves Travel brand is its focus on people, relationships, and trust. I want clients to feel that they are more than a booking. Every trip represents something important, whether it’s a family’s first big vacation, a milestone birthday, a destination wedding, or a long-awaited getaway.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?

Over the next five to ten years, I believe the travel industry will become more personalized, technology-driven, and focused on meaningful experiences. Travelers will have access to more tools than ever before, including artificial intelligence, virtual planning platforms, mobile technology, and increasingly sophisticated booking systems. These tools may make it easier for travelers to research and compare options, but they will not replace the value of a knowledgeable travel advisor—especially when a trip involves multiple travelers, complex logistics, significant investments, or unexpected changes.

I expect artificial intelligence to become a major part of the travel-planning process. Travelers may use AI to create itineraries, compare destinations, and receive instant recommendations. However, technology cannot fully understand the personal relationships, emotions, and priorities behind a trip. A family vacation, destination wedding, milestone celebration, or multigenerational getaway requires more than an efficient itinerary. It requires listening, judgment, creativity, and advocacy. Travel advisors will increasingly serve as trusted experts who use technology to enhance their service while providing the human guidance technology cannot replace.

I also see continued growth in experiential and purpose-driven travel. Travelers are looking for authentic cultural experiences, wellness opportunities, culinary adventures, outdoor activities, and trips that reflect their values. They want to return home with meaningful memories rather than simply checking destinations off a list. Sustainability will also become increasingly important, with more travelers considering how their choices affect local communities, the environment, and the destinations they visit.

Family and group travel will remain strong, particularly as people prioritize spending time together and celebrating important milestones. Multigenerational travel, destination weddings, reunions, and group celebrations can be rewarding, but they also involve complex planning. Different ages, budgets, preferences, and accessibility needs must be considered. This is an area where the expertise and personal attention of a travel advisor can make a significant difference.

The industry will also need to adapt to greater uncertainty. Weather events, health concerns, staffing challenges, changing travel requirements, and disruptions can affect a trip at any time. Travelers will increasingly value flexibility, travel protection, reliable communication, and having a professional advocate who can help them respond when plans change.

As the industry evolves, I believe travel advisors will become more specialized. Advisors who develop expertise in particular destinations, travel styles, and client needs will be better positioned to provide meaningful value. Ongoing education, professional development, and strong supplier relationships will be essential. I also expect continued growth in the advisor community as more people recognize the opportunity to build flexible, relationship-based businesses in travel.

For Mom Loves Travel, the future is about combining innovation with personal service. I will continue using new tools and technology to improve efficiency, communication, and the client experience, while keeping relationships at the center of my business. My goal is to help clients navigate an increasingly complex travel landscape with confidence and ease.

The industry may change dramatically over the next five to ten years, but the need for trust, expertise, and advocacy will remain. Travelers will still want someone who listens to what matters to them, understands the details, anticipates potential challenges, and stands beside them throughout the journey. That is where I believe Mom Loves Travel will continue to make a difference: helping clients plan meaningful trips and ensuring that big travel experiences are in expert hands.
