Inspiring Conversations with Crystal Irish of The Divine Sōulshine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Irish.

Hi Crystal, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story definitely hasn’t been a straight or easy road, but looking back, I can see how every part of it has shaped who I am today.

I grew up in a lot of chaos. Addiction within my family was a big part of my childhood, and because of that, there were times when our home life was really hard. I experienced things at a young age that no child should have to experience, and by 16, I was pretty much on my own and even lived out of my car for a period of time.

But I always knew I wanted something different for my life. Becoming a mom really changed everything for me. I met my husband when I was 19, and we’ve built a life and a family together that I’m incredibly grateful for. We have four kids, and being their mom has always been one of the biggest parts of who I am.

Over the years, I became really passionate about creating a healthier, more natural home for my family. What started as me simply trying to make better choices for the people I love eventually grew into something so much bigger. I started sharing what I was learning—essential oils, non-toxic swaps, DIYs, wellness, motherhood and just real life—and little by little, this beautiful online community grew around it.

Today, through The Divine Sōulshine, I get to share all of those things with an amazing community of women. But I also share the messy parts, because my life definitely isn’t perfect. I’ve walked through hard seasons, loss, grief and heartbreak, but through every season, God has always been there and my faith is what has carried me through.

I think more than anything, I want women to come to my page and feel like they’re sitting down with a friend. I want them to laugh, learn something, feel encouraged, maybe make a healthier swap for their family, and most importantly, be reminded that no matter what their story has looked like, there is always hope and there can still be so much beauty ahead.

I never could have imagined as that 16-year-old girl living out of her car that this would be my life someday. And I think that’s a huge part of why I share my story. If even one person sees a little bit of themselves in it and realizes that where you start does not have to determine where you end up, then sharing it is worth it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh gosh, definitely not a smooth road! But I also think some of the hardest things I’ve walked through are what have shaped me the most.

Growing up the way I did, I had to learn at a really young age how to survive and keep going. I didn’t have the kind of childhood or foundation that I wanted for my own family, so creating something different for my kids became incredibly important to me.

Building a business while also being a wife and raising four kids hasn’t always been easy either. There have been seasons where I’ve questioned myself, felt completely overwhelmed, or wondered if what I was doing was even making a difference. Social media can also make it look like everyone has it all together, and I definitely don’t. Haha! I’ve learned that I would much rather show up as myself—the good, the messy, the funny and even the hard—than try to create some picture-perfect version of my life.

More recently, grief has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever walked through. Losing my cousin and then losing my brother has completely changed me in ways I’m still learning. There are days when showing up is really hard. But I’m also learning that grief and joy can exist at the same time. I can have a broken heart and still laugh with my kids, create something I love, or find beauty in an ordinary day.
I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is that the hard parts of our story don’t have to be the end of our story. You can go through really difficult things and still build a life that is full of love, purpose, joy and hope.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Divine Sōulshine. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Divine Sōulshine really started as a place for me to simply share the things I was already doing in my own home and with my family. Over time, it grew into this amazing community that I honestly never could have imagined.

I share a little bit of everything—non-toxic living, DIYs, essential oils, wellness, motherhood, family, faith, home, travel and just real life. I’ve been using dōTERRA essential oils for about 15 years, and helping families learn how to make simple swaps and create a healthier home has become a huge part of what I do.

I also work with brands that genuinely fit into my life and the things I already share. That’s really important to me. I never want my page to feel like one big advertisement. If I’m sharing something, I want it to be something I actually use, love or believe my community would benefit from.

I think what sets The Divine Sōulshine apart is that I don’t want it to fit into one perfect little box. Haha! I’m a wife, a mom of four, a homeschool mom, a business owner and content creator, and my page reflects all of those pieces of my life. One day I might be sharing a non-toxic DIY, the next day I’m taking you along on a family adventure, and another day I may be talking about something really hard that I’m walking through.

What I’m most proud of isn’t necessarily a number or a business accomplishment—it’s the community that has grown from simply being myself and sharing my life. I’ve had women tell me they made a healthier change because of something I shared, started believing in themselves again, or felt less alone during a hard season. That means more to me than anything.

At the heart of The Divine Sōulshine, I just want to bring a little more light into people’s lives and remind women that you don’t have to have everything figured out to make a difference.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The biggest advice I would give anyone just starting out is just start. Seriously. Haha! Don’t wait until you have the perfect plan, the perfect content, the perfect house, the perfect camera or until you feel completely ready…because you probably never will.

I wish I had known earlier that you don’t have to be like everyone else to be successful. In fact, I think being yourself is one of the most important things you can do. People connect with people. They want the real you, not some perfectly curated version of your life.

I would also say don’t get caught up in comparing your beginning to someone else’s middle. It can be so easy to look at someone else’s followers, success or opportunities and wonder why you’re not there yet. Keep showing up, stay consistent, share what you genuinely love and remember why you started.

And don’t be afraid to evolve along the way. What I share today looks very different from where I started, and I think that’s a good thing. Your life changes, you change, and your business can grow right along with you.

Most importantly, don’t let fear of what other people might think keep you from doing something you feel called to do. There will always be someone with an opinion. Haha! Keep going anyway. You never know who needs what you have to share.
