Today we’d like to introduce you to Colleen Holiday.
Hi Colleen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was a young girl when I first picked up a weight, and it changed how I saw myself. Strength gave me confidence.
I went on to study counseling psychology, aiming for my doctorate. (Doc Holiday had a nice ring to it.) But training was too rewarding to leave, and 35 years later, I’m still here.
Over time, I saw women losing their self-esteem as they got older, and strength training giving it back. Today, my focus is women in their 50s and 60s, because I’m right there with them. It breaks my heart to watch women get smaller as they age. Weight training and counseling go hand in hand, so I work on the body and the mind together.
For years, I trained clients in their homes across the country. Now I take private cases. I move in for a few weeks, often staying on the client’s property, and we rebuild everything. My latest client in Detroit lost 40 pounds in 40 days. We shopped, cooked, trained, and I trained their trainer so the results would last.
Today I work with clients in Cleveland and Los Angeles, and I still fly out whenever someone is ready to change their life.
We’re taught to take up less space. I teach women to take up more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, and I wouldn’t trade the hard parts.
For the past 15 years, I’ve been a caregiver for my mom. Watching her life, and caring for her through illness, shaped my values more than anything. It taught me what happens when women put themselves last.
I’ve lived some of it myself, and I’ve watched it happen to so many women. We shrink in marriages and divorces. We care for aging parents, raise families, build careers, and try to do it all, until there’s nothing left for ourselves.
We hold ourselves to a higher bar. We dance faster than anyone else. And somewhere along the way, we disappear.
Those struggles are exactly why I do this work. Taking one month to reset your entire life isn’t selfish. It’s one of the best investments you’ll ever make. When a woman gets stronger, she stands taller, feels better, and starts taking up space again.
You deserve to feel good in your body and in your life. I can’t say that enough.
As you know, we’re big fans of Colleen Holiday Fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m Colleen Holiday, and I help women rebuild their strength, health, and confidence, especially women in their 50s and 60s who are ready to stop shrinking and start taking up space.
I offer private, high-touch coaching that combines strength training, nutrition, and the mindset work of my counseling psychology background. I work with select clients locally in Cleveland and Los Angeles, and I also take private live-in cases. For a few weeks, I come to you, often staying on your property, and we rebuild your life from the ground up.
What sets me apart is my approach to nutrition. Most programs aim for one thing: bulking up or slimming down. I do all of it, with longevity at the center. The quality of your life matters, and it matters more every decade. Fifty and sixty are young today, and with the right care, your 70s and 80s can be strong, vibrant, and fully lived.
I don’t hand you a plan and leave. I go grocery shopping with you. I teach you to cook. We train every day. I work on how you think, not just how you move. And before I leave, I train your trainer, so your results last long after I’m gone. My most recent client lost 40 pounds in 40 days.
I’m most proud of 35 years of changing lives, and a reputation built on results and discretion. My clients’ privacy is sacred. I never share names, photos, or details.
I’m selective about who I work with, because this work is personal and intensive. If you’ve spent years taking care of everyone else and you’re ready to invest in yourself, one month can change everything.
