Today we’d like to introduce you to Auntea Jenny.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began with what I call a moment of beautiful serendipity. I was exploring Shanghai’s charming neighborhoods when I discovered this hidden gem—a small tea shop where an elderly woman was creating something truly magical. She was blending traditional porridge with milk tea, and in that instant, I saw not just a beverage, but a bridge between ancient oriental wellness wisdom and modern lifestyle needs.
At that time, I was building my career at a Fortune 500 company, gaining experience in training, channel management, and operations. The corporate world taught me strategic thinking, but my heart was always drawn to creating something more meaningful.
That little tea shop became my inspiration. In 2013, my husband and I opened our first Auntea Jenny location, starting with our signature “grain + tea” concept. Our philosophy was simple: wellness should be delicious, accessible, and joyful.
The journey from that single shop to where we are today—over 9,000 locations across 300+ cities, publicly listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, with international locations in Malaysia and New York—has been both humbling and exhilarating. But what I’m most proud of isn’t just business growth; it’s the meaningful opportunities we’ve created for others, especially women.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned that true success isn’t measured solely in numbers, but in positive impact. Our recent initiatives, like the “Little Red Flower” program supporting women in need, feel just as significant as any business milestone. We’re not just serving beverages; we’re nurturing communities and empowering individuals.
Now, as we prepare to bring Auntea Jenny to Los Angeles, I’m excited about sharing our philosophy of mindful living and oriental wellness with a community that beautifully embraces innovation and cultural diversity.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not—entrepreneurship never is, is it? The path has been filled with beautiful challenges that have shaped both me and our brand in profound ways.
One of our earliest struggles was gaining credibility in a highly competitive market. When we first introduced our grain-based beverages, many people didn’t understand the concept. We were asking consumers to embrace something completely new—wellness-focused drinks that challenged traditional beverage categories. It took patience and persistence to educate the market about our vision.
The transition from corporate life to entrepreneurship was personally challenging too. Moving from the structured environment of a Fortune 500 company to the unpredictable world of startups required a complete mindset shift. There were sleepless nights questioning decisions, moments of financial uncertainty, and the constant pressure of proving that our concept could scale.
As a woman in business, I faced additional hurdles. There were times when my ideas weren’t taken as seriously, or when I had to work twice as hard to earn the same respect. But these experiences actually strengthened my resolve to create opportunities for other women through our business.
Scaling internationally brought its own complexities. Each new market meant understanding different cultural preferences, regulatory environments, and consumer behaviors. When we expanded to Malaysia and New York, we had to carefully balance staying true to our core philosophy while adapting to local tastes.
But here’s what I’ve learned: every struggle has been a teacher. The market skepticism taught us to communicate our vision more clearly. The operational challenges made us more resilient and innovative. The gender-related obstacles inspired our commitment to women’s empowerment initiatives.
These experiences have made Auntea Jenny stronger and more authentic. They’ve also deepened my appreciation for the journey itself—not just the destinations we reach, but the growth that happens along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of Auntea Jenny . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Auntea Jenny’s brand mission is to enable consumers worldwide to enjoy the beautiful life of freshly made beverages, and to work with global partners to achieve a better life through hard work.
We specialize in fresh, made-to-order beverages spanning multiple categories: our pioneering grain milk teas, vibrant fresh fruit teas, artisanal coffees, and wellness-focused blends. Every drink is crafted with premium ingredients and prepared fresh for each customer. We’re particularly known for our innovative use of natural grains, fresh fruits, and our ability to make healthy choices feel like indulgent treats.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of our commitment to empowering women. Our “Love and Wink” philosophy isn’t just marketing—it’s lived through our actions. The “Little Red Flower” initiative creates meaningful employment for women facing challenges, while our brand imagery celebrates the independent, confident spirit of modern women. Our “Women and Leopard” imagery represents grace, strength, and the unique power of oriental femininity.
We’re not just a beverage company—we’re a platform for positive change, creating opportunities for women, supporting communities, and promoting wellness as a lifestyle.
For your readers, I want them to understand that Auntea Jenny represents independence, exploration and relax attitude. Every cup tells a story of innovation, every location creates jobs, and every initiative supports someone’s journey toward empowerment. We’re bringing this philosophy to Los Angeles because we believe this community will embrace our vision of business as a force for beauty, wellness, and social good.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success, to me, has evolved beautifully over the years. Early in my corporate career, I measured it in traditional terms—titles, salaries, recognition. But building Auntea Jenny has taught me that true success is far more nuanced and meaningful.
Today, I define success as the ability to create ripple effects of positive change. When I see a single mother in our “Little Red Flower” program earning sustainable income while crafting those beautiful handmade flowers, that’s success. When a customer tells me our grain-based milk tea helped them feel more energetic and healthy, that’s success. When young women approached me saying our brand philosophy of “Love and Wink” inspired them to pursue their dreams with confidence, that’s profound success.
I’ve learned that success must feel sustainable and soulful. There’s no fulfillment in achievements that come at the expense of your values or community. The most beautiful success stories are those where business growth and social impact dance together harmoniously.
Success is measured in the lives we’ve touched, the opportunities we’ve created, and the belief we’ve instilled that business can be a beautiful force for good in this world.
