Hi, I’m Alexa – the heart behind Alexa Sugar Me, a sugaring studio rooted in the beautiful city of Thousand Oaks.

Born and raised in Southern California, I’ve always carried with me a deep love for creativity, self-expression, and the beauty industry. From a very young age, I knew I was meant to walk a different path—one where I could turn my passion into purpose and my challenges into strength.

Growing up with learning differences made school difficult, but it also helped me discover where I truly shined: through art, beauty, and connecting with others. While many followed the rules, I proudly danced to the beat of my own drum, never letting anyone dim my sparkle. That fire within led me to become a licensed cosmetologist at just 17. I launched my career in hair, working with top beauty brands and eventually running my own salon. Hair will always hold a special place in my heart, but when I discovered sugaring, something shifted.

Sugaring quickly became more than a service—it became my calling. I saw how transformative it could be, not just physically but emotionally. It’s an incredible gift to help women feel more confident, seen, and celebrated in their own skin. After mastering my technique while working for a high-end chain and balancing my hair business, I took a leap of faith and built Alexa Sugar Me—a space where self-love and empowerment are at the forefront.

Every client who walks through my door becomes part of my story. I pour my heart into every appointment, not just because it’s my job, but because I truly care. This work brings me joy, healing, and a deep sense of purpose. Being able to create a safe, welcoming space where women feel beautiful and embraced is the most fulfilling part of what I do!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely, my journey to running my own sugaring business was filled with challenges. I began my career at just 17, driven by a passion for hair, and I opened two hair salons with hardly any money to my name. Unfortunately, both of those ventures faced immense difficulties during the pandemic and ultimately failed. There were moments when I felt like giving up, questioning if I was on the right path.

However, instead of succumbing to despair, I decided to pivot when things got tough. That choice transformed my outlook and led me to explore the world of sugaring. Now, looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the journey. The experience of failure taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and determination. I now approach my business with a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed, and I believe those struggles have shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today.

Im a Licensed Cosmetologist with over 7 years in the industry, and for the past 4 years, I’ve been specializing in sugaring hair removal—a gentle, natural alternative to waxing that leaves your skin silky smooth. My passion? Helping women feel confident, comfortable, and radiant in their own skin.

What sets my sugaring business apart from other sugarist’s is my commitment to personalized care and an empathetic approach to beauty. I focus on creating a welcoming and comfortable environment where clients feel valued and understood no matter their shape or size

. Additionally, I use high-quality, natural ingredients in my sugaring products, ensuring a gentle and effective experience. My emphasis on education also empowers clients with knowledge about their skin and aftercare, resulting in a lasting relationship built on trust and results. This unique combination of personalized service, quality products, and client education truly distinguishes my business in the local market.

In fact, sometimes when things seem to be falling apart, they are actually falling together in ways we can’t immediately see. It’s essential to have faith during those challenging moments, as that belief can guide you toward your goals. Remember, the only competition you truly have is with yourself. Each setback is an opportunity to learn and grow, and every step forward, no matter how small.
