Today we’d like to introduce you to Abraham.
Hi Abraham, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Mexico and opened my first cycling studio in Guanajuato City in 2003 after falling in love with Spinning classes. Over time that studio grew into a full gym, and I became certified in multiple formats so I could always step in if an instructor did not show up.
In 2007 I became a Zumba Master Trainer and spent years traveling to more than 20 countries teaching courses and licensing over 5,000 instructors. Those experiences taught me how to build community and support other trainers while refining my own teaching style.
After my daughter was born, I moved to Oregon so my wife at the time could be closer to family. I joined the local YMCA as a Zumba Education Specialist and soon decided to make the US my permanent home. That transition was far from easy—I didn’t speak English, didn’t know anyone, and had to figure out how to start a business under those conditions. It was one of the toughest but most formative challenges I’ve faced.
Later, I moved to Los Angeles because I wanted to take things to the next level and grow my business. In 2022 I discovered full-body EMS training with Lightning Fit. My first session was surprising in the best way. I felt like I’d lifted heavy weights without the risk of injuring myself as the suit delivered pulses across every muscle while I exercised. By the end I was just as exhausted as after a 60-minute weight class.
When Lightning Fit closed its fitness branch, I launched ElektroBody in June 2023. I set up my LLC and business structure before training my first clients, many of whom I’d met at Lightning Fit. Word of mouth helped me grow a tight network of trainers who cover for each other and keep clients coming back.
What keeps me going is seeing clients get leaner and stronger, then coming back from doctor checkups with better bone density or muscle strength. Beyond EMS training, I’m also developing AI-powered apps, such as a meal plan app.
At home, I’m Abraham the husband and dad. I am remarried and a proud father of four: Diego, Kamila, Naomi, and Sarai. Diego lives in Oregon with his mom, while Naomi and Sarai joined the family through my wife Krista, who is also a fitness professional. Together we are a blended family living in LA, and my wife and kids inspire me every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been all sunshine and easy reps. Shifting from a known format like Zumba to a relatively unknown service like full-body EMS meant I spent a lot of time educating clients on what EMS was and why it was worth trying. Getting the right wireless equipment took longer than I expected because of supply chain delays in early 2023. I had to postpone sessions and answer lots of “is it coming” questions. And since EMS was new to most people, the first handful of clients needed extra support and home visits just to feel comfortable and safe.
On the personal side, balancing four kids, my wife’s career, and constant travel for app development or demo days led to late nights and missing a few dance recitals. Building a network of trainers who really believe in the method took time. Finding people reliable enough to cover each other without dropping the ball was a learn-as-you-go process. But every time a client tells me their doctor is impressed by better bone density or they can finally squat pain-free, I remember the struggle was worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Elektrobody?
ElektroBody brings studio-grade EMS training right to your door. We use a fully wireless suit with upper-body, lower-body and arm wraps that send pulses through every major muscle group while you move. That means in just 20 minutes you get the intensity of a 60-minute gym session without joint stress or injury risk.
We specialize in mobile, personalized workouts for busy professionals and families. Your certified trainer arrives with all the gear, sets you up in minutes and guides you through exercises that combine involuntary EMS contractions with your own movements. Our clients rave about getting leaner, feeling stronger, improving bone density and easing aches—all on their own schedule.
What sets us apart is our focus on tech, convenience and community. No fixed studio hours, no crowded classes. You book when it works for you. Behind the scenes we’ve built a network of vetted trainers who step in for one another so you never miss a session. Brand-wise we’re proud to deliver a premium yet approachable experience where every client gets a custom plan, hands-on coaching, and ongoing support. ElektroBody isn’t just a workout—it’s a smarter way to train and stay motivated without a gym membership.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that being open to change and leaning on your community beats going it alone. Pivoting from spin and Zumba into a brand-new service like full-body EMS taught me that no matter how much experience you have, you’ve got to keep learning, stay curious, and adapt fast.
At the same time, I discovered that success isn’t a solo sport. When I built ElektroBody I leaned on other trainers, my clients, and my family to figure things out together—whether that meant troubleshooting gear delays, refining a workout, or covering sessions when someone couldn’t make it. Seeing how everyone lifts each other up reminded me that strong relationships and a willingness to pivot are what really move the needle.
