Hi Taryn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Taryn and I am an aspiring entrepreneur forming a clothing brand and business. I started in LA my hometown with designs and pursued staring my brand while moving to Savannah GA for school in August 2023. I have been visiting home every couple of months while trying to visit my family, I also started getting more products for my clothing brand piece by piece. Now I have been trying to get people to model for me so I can have professional photos on my clothing brand page on instagram. My brands name is ‘Out Tha Mix’ meaning to be to be different and not in the same category as everyone. To be out tha mix, you can’t do what everyone is doing and if you are be different and not on the same wavelength. You are your own person and be brighter than others especially the doing something apart of the mix, you gotta stay out tha mix. I created this brand to showcase how different I want to be from others in the clothing business in general. I am in this position today from the work I put in and the effort I also put in which has helped me challenge myself to get up everyday and just do it!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a bumpy road trying to pay for clothes for others and while in school its kinda hard, but recently I changed my major to Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design to help my research for my brand especially the fact that I want to open up my own store one day, having this major will help create that and connects with other resources. Some struggles I can say along the way was definitely finding a vendor to make my clothes until I bought a course from another clothing brand owner, ‘Kayla Parrilla’, who has helped the smaller steps and the course included graphic designers and vendors. The only part that’s REALLY hard is literally funding my overall business.

My business is a clothing brand and I sell clothes that are different from other brands. I specialize in helping others stay out tha mix and feel different from other people especially when modeling for other brands, those who receive my clothing will feel the energy that’s not on the same wavelength as others. I am known for selling clothes to make people feel special and cute when wearing it. What sets me apart from others is my clothes itself, I know other brands have certain niches but mine is overall much different from others. I am proud of the work I put in even thoughts not a whole lot, its still something to help me move forward. I offer clothes and styling services to help others feel different from the mix we’re already in, so stay out tha mix.

People can work with me by helping me network with others to help create parts of my business that need mending to. Others can collaborate by helping post and get others to see what I am making to have a better audience than the one I already have.
