Angelinos of Hope began with a simple but powerful goal: to show up for our community when help is needed most.
Our journey started during one of the most difficult moments of our lives. When the fires swept through our community last year, our own family experienced a devastating house fire and lost everything. We were forced to start over from nothing. As we worked through the shock and heartbreak, we watched families affected by the Altadena and Pacific Palisades fires facing the same fear, loss, and uncertainty. Their pain mirrored our own—and we knew we had to act.
Our daughter Jocelyn and son Oscar, alongside their friends, came together to open a small donation center to help fire victims rebuild their lives. What began as a grassroots effort quickly grew into something much bigger than we imagined. The community responded with overwhelming generosity, and within a short time, we expanded to two additional locations to meet the growing need. Volunteers worked around the clock collecting, sorting, and distributing food, essential supplies, and necessities to families who had lost everything.
Listening to those we served—families facing hardship, displacement, and instability—made our mission clear. Angelinos of Hope expanded beyond disaster relief to provide ongoing support through food pantries, menstrual hygiene drives, and community outreach events designed to restore dignity and offer hope. We focus on helping individuals and families who are often overlooked, ensuring they feel seen, supported, and cared for.
Today, Angelinos of Hope continues to grow through the dedication of volunteers, community partners, and supporters who believe in compassion in action. While our organization has evolved, our purpose remains unchanged: to uplift, support, and stand alongside our neighbors—because no one should have to face hardship alone.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been easy. As a grassroots, community-based organization, Angelinos of Hope has faced ongoing challenges related to limited funding, resources, and infrastructure. There have been times when individuals and families reached out for urgent support, and we were constrained by a lack of funds or essential supplies needed to fully meet their needs.

Access to consistent space has also been a significant barrier. Angelinos of Hope does not currently have a permanent community center and must rely on borrowed or donated spaces from local businesses and partners. While we are deeply grateful for this generosity, these spaces are often available only for short periods of time. As a result, our programs are temporary, our outreach is mobile, and community members do not always have a consistent location where they can find us or rely on ongoing services.

Despite these challenges, Angelinos of Hope has continued to grow through collaboration, determination, and community trust. The need for our services continues to increase, underscoring the importance of sustainable funding and stable infrastructure. Support through this grant would allow us to strengthen our capacity, secure reliable space, and expand our programs—creating lasting impact for the students, families, and individuals who depend on us.

Angelinos of Hope is a student-led nonprofit organization dedicated to creating change from the ground up by empowering youth to serve their communities with purpose and compassion. Our vision for this community center includes a food pantry, gym, computer center, amphitheater, and free educational classes designed to support academic growth, wellness, creativity, and leadership development. This space will allow us to serve the community consistently while giving students a home base for learning, mentorship, and service.
