Hidden Gems: Meet Nicholas Walker of High Impact Training 626

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Walker.

NICHOLAS WALKER

Hi Nicholas, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a devoted father, husband, brother, son, uncle, but most of all I am a Football Coach. I have been Coaching Football for 19 years. Currently I am employed by Asian Youth Center and serve as Credible Messenger Mentor for Youth and Family Services. I am the owner of High Impact Training 626 and sit on the Board of Directors for FOESUP, both of which are Nonprofits that deal with disadvantaged youth and families. I am also the Offensive Coordinator at Los Angeles Valley College, prior to that I was the (2022) Head Coach at Valley Christian High School in Cerritos, where we reached the 2022 CIF SOUTHERN SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP, I also served as the Defensive Coordinator at Canyon High School in Canyon Country, Offensive Line Coach at La Pierce College (2019), Offensive Line at Glendale Community College (2018), Defensive Coordinator Glendale High School (2017), Special Teams Coordinator Los Angeles Valley College (2005), and Junior Varsity Head Coach John Muir High School (2004). I have also done personal training for the past 9 years during the off season. Over these years I have been able to send thirty five inner city Student-Athletes to college for very little money out of pocket for their families which otherwise couldn’t afford the tuition.

In life, we all have made mistakes that can come back to haunt us as we mature. As for me, it has taken me eight mistakes to get it right during my twenties. For me, I was misguided and underprivileged as a kid and as a young adult. I grew up with a disabled mother who was fending for four growing boys ranging in age. All these mistakes are making me take every opportunity to become a community pillar and helping student athletes become better young men and women of our future. I have obtained the most documentation possible to illustrate that I am rehabilitated and mentally stable to help in any way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My record has been the biggest obstacle I have gone through.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
High Impact Training 626 is my personal nonprofit I have ran since 2018. I have built the brand in a capacity that it is self-sufficient in its day-to-day practices. What we offer is Mentoring, tutoring, sponsorship of athletic training, and big brother services. We have gotten 35-plus kids into college since 2018.

We specialize in athletic Training.

I’m the Offensive and Defensive line Coach.

What sets us apart is, our service are reasonable and low compared to others.

Most proud of the College Scholarships offered to our athletes.

Bring your kids out so that not only can we help them athletically but also as a young man or future husbands and fathers.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
