Hidden Gems: Meet Michael Thai of Arcadia Dental Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Thai.

Hi Michael, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been practicing dentistry for over 20 years. My focus is restorative and functional esthetic dentistry, ranging from simple fillings to complex rehabilitation.
I am a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and completed post graduate training in Advanced Dentistry (AEGD) at the USC/ LAC Hospital.
Our practice model and approach is a bit different than most dental offices. Since each person is unique. my goal is to provide the highest quality, science based dentistry while working together with my patient to achieve their oral health goals and needs. I listen and work together with them and offer my expertise and opinion and we decide what would work best for their case.
To accomplish this and provide the best care, I have invested heavily not only in a modern comfortable facility and team, but also in my technical expertise.
I am very proud of the numerous programs and education I have taken to make me a better clinician. I have completed acclaimed programs such as the UCLA esthetic continuum, the Spear curriculum as well as the world famous Kois center in Seattle. I believe the knowledge I have acquired from years of learning allow me to offer a truly unique service to my patients.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In healthcare it is never a smooth road. It’s always a continuing journey to improve and keep up with scientific advances to produce better outcomes. Dentistry has changed tremendously and continues to change. I take great pride to be able to stay current with all these changes and be able to provide the best care for my patients. Often times, it involves significant time to devote to courses and training. For example, 50 hours of continuing dental education is required every 2 years. On average, I do about 200 hours every 2 years. I believe this helps to overcome these struggles.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a dental office that focuses on restorative and cosmetic dentistry. We treat kids to the elderly. We focus on helping patients build that smile they are looking for or getting them back to their best oral health.

Whether it’s a simple filling or a complex oral reconstruction with implants or veneers our team will offer the patient our expert opinion and we will work with them to achieve their goals. We listen, advise and work with them as a team.

We are unique because we focus on quality and putting our patients first. Our mission is to provide the best dentistry in the best environment we can.

We also have an orthodontist, Dr Whang, who is an integral part of our team, making it very convenient for our patients to achieve their desired smile all in one location.

We have served Arcadia and the surrounding areas for over 10 years and many have come to trust us for their dental care. We recently moved to a new modern facility to provide better comfort and care for our patients. Our new facility is fully digital. We have two intra-oral 3D scanners (no more impressions), digital X-rays with CBCT (3D X-ray) and electric hand piece (drill) for comfort.

We pride ourselves on our technical expertise and knowledge as well as treating our patients needs. We understand everyone is unique and different and so we use our skills to help them achieve their unique goals.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I believe that the best mentors I have found have been through my continuing education. I would say going to the best courses you can and be passionate about your craft. The mentor will find you.
