Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Fisher.
Hi Lauren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I purchased my shop My Laguna Office, shortly after COVID in August 2020. When most people were afraid to take on a new business endeavor I saw a great long term opportunity to make a difference in the community. I had previously owned and operated an import grocery store in Haarlem Netherlands for most of my twenties and upon moving back to the States I couldn’t imagine another career for myself outside of business ownership!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been mostly a smooth road! Every business has its hiccups and growing pains but generally My Laguna Office has been an amazing shop to own and run. I’d say the biggest struggle was in the beginning recovering the poor reputation the shop had had over the years.
As you know, we’re big fans of My Laguna Office. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My Laguna Office isn’t your standard pack and ship/mailbox shop. We specialize in getting things done for customers in ways that make their lives easier. We are known for our above and beyond mindset about our business where we do more than just stick a shipping label on a box for you. If you need that extra step taken, or even a less that usual job done around Laguna that we can help with. We do it!
I’m most proud that My Laguna Office has become a name in town and beyond that folks trust and look forward to working with. This shop previously had a long history of quite honestly poor ownership attitudes and approaches to a customer driven business. Over five years ago when I bought the business… that all went away but I had to prove it to everyone who had experienced otherwise. And we have!
Things that are a must know about our services is that there isn’t even a set list of them. You call us up asking to drop off some flowers at your Laguna Beach vacation house before your wife arrives for the week, we are there. You’ve moved out of state already and need that huge canvas removed from your home to have unframed and shipped to you, we are there. The odd jobs never end and I love it. Giving the community whatever we can do to make things happen for them.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Currently I define success by time. By being able to work in person at my shop only a couple days a week and spending the rest of the time with my 6-year old daughter Madelief and my partner Nick. Madelief is only this age once and I demand that she soak up every moment of it having adventures with her momma!
