Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Archie.

Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Thank you for having me! I’m so excited to have the opportunity to share my story with your readers. I’m a Los Angeles native, wife, and mother. I graduated from Howard University with a BS degree in Biology. I have always had a love for a natural and holistic lifestyle which inspired me to start handcrafting body butters to heal my daughter’s skin inflammation and extremely dry skin when she was a baby.

I spent a lot of time and money on steroid prescriptions and numerous over-the-counter products to relieve her discomfort. Her skin would get better, but the inflammation would flare-up again and never completely heal. After a lot of research, I decided to create my own body butter hoping her skin would finally heal, and over time with consistent use…it did! I was successful in creating an effective eco-friendly all natural formula that heals, soothes, and rejuvenates the skin.

Initially, I created this product for my family, but due to the curiosity and high demand within my family/friend circle and beyond, I decided to launch Junie Bees Butta. I designed my own logo and website, then hit the ground running…Junie Bees Butta was born!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like with any small business, it’s definitely not a smooth road. One of our biggest obstacles is funding…Keeping the cash flow steady. It’s been like a roller coaster, but I’ve received a few small grants that have helped tremendously. It’s an ongoing challenge that I’m learning to manage.

Another obstacle, especially during the pandemic is packaging and raw material supply availability. Many of my local vendors still have significant delays and out of stock products. I am forced to purchase from out-of-state vendors and pay high shipping rates to keep up with customer demands. It’s tough, but I’ve gotten really savvy with making it all work.
