Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Alexis.

Hi Jade, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
About Jade

Jade Alexis is a wellness professional with more than 20 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry. Through private instruction, corporate wellness, community programs, digital platforms, and educational experiences, she helps people develop a deeper connection with their bodies, minds, and overall wellbeing.

Jade grew up in London and Canada in a Jamaican family before coming to the United States on a Division I basketball scholarship. She has remained in the U.S. ever since, pursuing her passion for movement, fitness, and wellness. Her career has spanned yoga, meditation, personal training, indoor cycling, and fitness education, with successful work across multiple disciplines. Her own journey into yoga began after a series of knee injuries and surgeries. What initially brought her to yoga to support an injured body ultimately became a transformative practice that helped her evolve and grow in immeasurable ways—both physically and mentally. Yoga helped her better understand and care for her body, while also becoming an important part of improving her knee and reclaiming movement.

Jade has also built an extensive body of digital and audio wellness work, creating original practices for platforms including Audible, Fitbit, Aaptiv, Brello, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and Insight Timer. Her recorded work includes Sleep Better for Audible and Five Minutes of Peace formally on Fitbit, as well as her own collection of practices, including Namaste, Sun Salutation, Pure Jade Alexis, and Peace of Jade. Alongside her digital work, she has taught and mentored yoga teachers, developed corporate and private wellness programs, and created experiences in yoga, meditation, breathwork, and mindfulness for a wide range of audiences.

At the heart of Jade’s work is a genuine passion for helping others heal and grow—physically, mentally, and emotionally. She believes wellness extends far beyond physical fitness. It is about building strength, awareness, resilience, and self-understanding, while developing practical tools that support a more balanced and meaningful life. Her own journey continues to shape the way she teaches, creates, and connects with others.

Where I am now (summary):
Today, I bring all of these experiences into the work I do as a yoga, meditation, and wellness educator. I offer private and group yoga, meditation, breathwork, corporate wellness programs, workshops, and wellness education, as well as yoga teacher training and mentorship. I also create digital wellness content and educational experiences for leading wellness platforms. At the heart of my work is helping people feel more connected to themselves—through movement, mindfulness, breath, and a deeper understanding of what it means to live well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has been shaped by challenges that have deeply influenced who I am and how I show up in the world. I grew up as a Black girl in predominantly white environments, navigating what it meant to be Black while also growing up in a Jamaican family and culture. When I came to the United States for college on a Division I basketball scholarship, Black American culture was completely new to me. For much of my life, I found myself trying to fit in, questioning where I belonged, and feeling that I had to continually prove that I deserved to be in the room. Over time—and particularly through yoga and self-exploration—I began to understand that I didn’t need to fit neatly into someone else’s definition of who I was. I could embrace my roots, my experiences, and my own story—and finally feel confident in exactly who I am.

I have also experienced profound personal loss. The sudden and tragic death of my sister at a young age shook me to my core and changed the way I saw life, love, and what truly matters. It reshaped me and taught me that grief doesn’t necessarily disappear; we learn to carry it while continuing to live, love, and grow.

My body has presented its own challenges. Years of athleticism and multiple knee injuries eventually led to a total knee replacement, forcing me to rethink my relationship with movement and redefine what strength and recovery could look like. Yoga was originally something I turned to for exercise and for my knee, but it ultimately became one of the practices that helped me better understand my body, work through limitations, and reconnect with myself. In many ways, the body that led me to yoga became the body through which yoga taught me how to heal, adapt, and grow.

I have also had to navigate the difficult process of leaving a relationship that was no longer healthy or serving me and building a life as a single mother, while continuing to work, provide, and create a sense of stability and peace for my daughter, myself and through my work. There have been seasons when maintaining my own peace while carrying so much responsibility has been incredibly challenging. Yoga has given me the tools to stay grounded through those seasons—to keep moving forward even when things feel difficult.

And then there is my daughter, who continues to teach me some of life’s greatest lessons. She challenges me to be more patient, more present, and more compassionate, and inspires me to become a better version of myself each and every day. I want her to see that life will inevitably bring challenges, but those challenges don’t have to define us. They can become part of what makes us stronger, more compassionate, and more connected to who we are. My challenges have shaped me, but they have also taught me that I can begin again, grow through difficult seasons, and continue to create a life that feels true to me
