Hidden Gems: Meet Isabel Madison of Nude Envie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Madison.

Hi Isabel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the cosmetic industry, where my father was in charge of research and development for Max factor, and then went on to create his own Beauty brand which he then sold to Revlon. During those years, I was in the lab with my father, creating a different shade of lipstick and all sorts of makeup. Period and 2017 I decided to launch my own make up, seeing that there was a very special need for Nude Lipsticks.
My lipsticks had to be creamy and luxurious and feel good on the lips. It took me two years to create seven different lipsticks with almost 7 different formulas. Each lipstick have to look beautiful on all skin tone and ethnicity. I was able to do that and Barneys picked it up right away. I created lip liners to match and then went onto eyeshadows to match. I felt there was a need for completing the look with cheek products. I wanted all products to look beautiful on all ages and be simple enough to navigate anyone could figure out what would look good on them.
My greatest joy comes when women email and tell us how happy they are that they have found the perfect nude shades and that they want more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve come to learn that the business runs smoothly, no matter what you are selling. If you truly believe in your product and want to give people what they need or what they are missing, and want to be the best out there, there will be obstacles that you face. Making or creating products that are unbelievably desirable and perfect will always be a challenge as you have to rely on other people for so many things.
Covid was a challenge, Barneys closing down was a challenge and customers not going into stores was a major challenge. I had to pivot and move everything online, including Amazon so that I could accommodate my customers needs.
I also have challenges when I am creating something as I have a vision in my head, and sometimes it is very hard to create it. For instance, when I decided my lipsticks are going to be the creamiest and softest out there. The challenge was to make sure they do not break. Thankfully, I was successful, but it took two years. I had the same issue with my eyeshadows as I wanted them to be highly pigmented and easy to apply with a velvety feel Powders can also be delicate in so many ways.

Nude Envie is a carefully curated wardrobe of nude, lipsticks and collections of nude shades of lips, lids, and cheeks for all women of all ages and ethnicities. We are known for super hydrating and moisturizing lipstick that feels so good on the lips. It is almost addicting. Our shades are very unique and complementary to all skin tones.
Our customers that started with us are still with us and still wanting the same shades that we started with., I am always coming up with new shades or new versions of some of our shades, but our core collection remains

Our cream, blushes and cream highlighters are by far the most amazing ever. There are so many skin benefits in them, and the formula is so silky yet long lasting that I am truly proud of those creations

What were you like growing up?
I was a 70s child and very active. Loved rollerskating almost all day long or bike riding. I grew up in tiny little shorts, but was such a girly girl. At the age of 16 I fell in love with makeup, even though I wasn’t allowed to wear it. At that age, I would put make up on my mom, my grandmother and all of my cousins, who are not good at wearing make up. I always thought I’m doing them a favor because they would look so much prettier with make up and I always thought I am helping them boost their confidence.
