Hidden Gems: Meet Heather Eaton of House of Holistic Skin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Eaton.

Hi Heather, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
35 years ago I left the OC bubble. Do they still say that? LOL! To pursue the performer dream up in LA. I got a gig to sing in a band that only days after I moved up there DIS-banded. Shortly after that while living in Burbank, I booked a job in Hollywood. It was a pilot for a game show/dating show. One day the production companies receptionist quit and one of the producers asked if I could help them out after the shoot and so I did. Three months later they offered me a casting position, four years later without paying attention to my original reason for moving to LA…I had been swallowed up by a job that I never intended to have behind the camera instead of in front of it. Being a small town beach girl raised in Laguna Beach in the 70’s. I slowly started to realize, the city and I were not a match made in heaven. Best thing that came of the experience was the good stories of survival and the great friends I still have today. After crawling back into the bubble and sleeping on my mother’s couch for a month figuring my life out in my late 20’s. My mother reminded me of how I use to create concoctions with stuff in the kitchen and smother it all over my friends faces at slumber parties and how I was into all things spa. It lit a fire in me and I immediately researched Esthetician schools got a waitressing job at night and put myself through school.
I got my Esthetician license when I was 28 years old. I was lucky to know a hairdresser friend in OC that was about to become manager of a salon that was hiring an Esthetician. I worked my ass off and took as many post education classes in the industry as I could to fill my brain and hone my skills. After four and a half years working for that company I ventured on my own and started Heather Eaton Skincare.
Since then, I’ve planted roots in a few different spaces throughout OC.
I offer and have been certified in many different treatments, products and services. Permanent Make up, Micro-needling, Advanced Anti-aging treatments, Advanced waxing techniques, teen and adult hormonal skincare and Holistic Medical Aesthetician training are all part of my daily practice. I have had the privilege to work as an educator among my peers teaching other Estheticians for many years with opportunities and experiences traveling over four continents. Today I’m creating one of my best chapters in my career in a little studio in my home town. Currently I am working on a YouTube channel and learning to navigate social media as I overcome obstacles of my technical shortcomings, to put it nicely LOL! I recently re-branded myself and my company name is House of Holistic. Skin, formally named Beauty & Blade Studio. I am continuing to work as an educator for a fantastic holistic medical company which gives me the gift of being able to stay educated and research the latest and greatest ways to improve everyone’s skin as well as lives. Every now and then I miss the stage and will occasionally sing for friends and family but it’s clear to me that after 28 years of being a licensed Aesthetician my passion for this industry is here to stay.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d like to say it’s been a pleasure all the years but you can’t have the good times without experiencing a little bad.
Generally, times get tough when the country’s financial state is suffering or more specifically a bad landlord or salon owner is making poor choices.
I’d say the roughest time for all
Of us in the beauty and healing industry was the 2008 housing crash and of course the dreaded pandemic years of 2020 through 2023.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about House of Holistic Skin?
What sets me apart in my industry, I believe is the fact that many new generations of Estheticians aren’t connecting to the practice of human touch. Some of the most memorable compliments that come from my clients have been centered around my abilities to massage and ground them while clinically taking care of their skin.
Another game changer for me has been getting certified as a Holistic Medical Aesthetician. This knowledge and modern innovation of ancient medical wisdom has given me so much more clarity to get to the root cause of people’s skin conditions and issues. Not just helping them externally but giving them a better understanding of how to affect their overall skin health and appearance from root causes literally finding their beauty from the inside out.
