Hidden Gems: Meet Gabriel Allen Graves of Gabriel Graves Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Allen Graves.

Hi Gabriel Allen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Raised in Palmdale, CA. I got my grassroots start (quite literally) as a preteen with my siblings and neighbors shooting sketches. That led me to want to continue creating sketches and films through to adulthood.

I knew from a young age that I wanted to do something I really love to do. I began working as a co-founder of Team Broski Entertainment with Samuel Mokelu which went on to create different web series, sketches, shorts, and even a feature film until 2020. Since then, I’ve been directing, creating and shooting independently as a freelancer.

I’ve been blessed to be working with the best and most well-known artists and brands in the Antelope Valley, Los Angeles, and Riverside. Working with other creatives is second nature to my own individual creative endeavors.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, I’ve had to face many obstacles on my journey. Growing up my family was poor and it took many years before I could afford to invest into things that I like to do. Even as an adult there was a lot of times were I had to decide between keeping my gear or paying my rent. More recently my family has had to deal with the loss of my stepfather and my mom in late 2022, which was devastating to say the least. Losing a parent is something that you’ll never be ready for and it’s taking everything that I have to not give up on my dreams. But if anything, I think my struggles make me stronger because I know every day that I create is a day that I choose. Nothing is given in this life, and so to continue to follow my heart I know was a choice that I made consciously. Even when all the odds are stacked against you, there’s always a choice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I love people. I love to make them look their best and show the world how beautiful they are through photography.

I started out learning about portrait photography and decided it was my specialization—I love to shoot people because we’re all beautiful in our own ways, and I want to show off that beauty.

I’m not just a photographer, though; I’m a storyteller. When I shoot portraits, I want my images to tell stories about the people in front of my lens—who they are, what makes them tick, and what makes them special.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Absolutely! As a commercial photographer/ videographer and brand strategist, I specialize in creating strong and distinctive identities for businesses. My goal is to help you take your image to the next level by capturing clothing, product lines, and artists in unique and exciting ways. I’m dedicated to analyzing each project to develop marketing materials that inform, educate, and captivate your audience.
