Today we’d like to introduce you to Dyiana.
Hi Dyiana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in Honduras, where I was born and raised. At the age of 14, I moved to New York with my mother in search of new opportunities and a better future. Adjusting to a new country, language, and culture was challenging, but those early experiences taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of hard work.
I eventually pursued a career in nursing, earning my RN and MSN and gaining experience in medical-surgical nursing, home health, case management, and hospital administration. Throughout my career, I developed a passion for caring for others, especially seniors and individuals who needed additional support to maintain their independence and quality of life.
In 2019, I made another significant life change when I relocated from New York to California. It was an opportunity for a new beginning, both personally and professionally. While living in California, I met my husband, who would later become an important part of my personal life and entrepreneurial journey.
My desire to help seniors and families became deeply personal through my experiences caring for my own parents.
As my mother grew older and began needing more assistance, I experienced firsthand how difficult it could be to find a reliable, compassionate caregiver. Although I had years of professional nursing experience, being on the other side of healthcare as a daughter gave me an entirely different perspective. I wanted someone who would treat my mother with the same dignity, patience, and compassion that I would provide myself.
My father’s experience reinforced that purpose even further. In 2024, my father was terminally ill with cancer. Knowing that his time was limited was incredibly difficult. While visiting him in Honduras, I found myself once again searching for a caregiver who could provide the support and comfort he needed during his final stages of life. He eventually passed away in Honduras that same year.
Those experiences reminded me that families are not simply looking for someone to assist with daily activities. They are looking for trust, compassion, consistency, and peace of mind. They want to know that someone genuinely cares about their loved one.
**My experiences as both a nurse and a daughter helped shape my vision for VisitingHome.**
I founded VisitingHome LLC, a non-medical home care agency dedicated to helping seniors and individuals who need assistance remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes. I wanted to create an organization that understood the emotional challenges families face and provided the level of care I would want for my own parents.
Building a business has not been easy. Transitioning from nursing into entrepreneurship required me to develop new skills in leadership, financial management, recruitment, and business operations. There have been challenges, difficult decisions, and moments of uncertainty, but my purpose has remained the same: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people and families we serve.
As VisitingHome continued to grow, I recognized that families often needed more comprehensive healthcare services. This inspired me to establish VisitingHome Medical, our skilled home health agency, which achieved ACHC accreditation in 2026. This milestone represents an important step toward expanding our ability to serve patients throughout Southern California.
Today, I serve as the Founder and CEO of VisitingHome, working alongside a dedicated team and with the support of my husband, who is involved in the operational side of the business.
In 2026, I also experienced one of the greatest blessings of my life when I became a mother. Welcoming my daughter has brought a new sense of purpose and perspective. Balancing motherhood, caring for my aging mother, and leading a growing healthcare organization has strengthened my appreciation for family, perseverance, and the importance of having a dependable support system.
When I look back at my journey, I think about the 14-year-old girl who left Honduras with her mother, the nurse who dedicated her career to helping others, and the daughter who struggled to find compassionate care for her aging parents.
Each of those experiences helped shape the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
**VisitingHome is more than a business to me. It represents my passion for helping seniors, my professional commitment to quality care, and my personal understanding of what families experience when someone they love needs assistance.**
My journey is still unfolding. I hope my story inspires other women, immigrants, healthcare professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs to believe in their dreams, embrace new opportunities, and recognize that even life’s most difficult experiences can lead to something meaningful.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Building VisitingHome has challenged me as a nurse, a business owner, a woman, and now a mother. My healthcare experience gave me a strong foundation, but entrepreneurship brought new responsibilities—managing finances, finding dependable caregivers, and building a team that shares my commitment to compassionate care.
Being a woman running a business while navigating pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery has been incredibly challenging. My daughter arrived prematurely, and having her in the NICU while the business still needed my attention was emotionally and physically overwhelming. I wanted to be fully present for her while also feeling responsible for my employees and the families who depend on us. Learning to delegate and give myself permission to recover has been an important part of this journey.
My experiences caring for my mother and arranging care for my father during his terminal illness also shaped me. When he passed away in Honduras in 2024, it reinforced how deeply families need dependable, compassionate support during difficult times.
I am still learning how to balance leadership, motherhood, marriage, and caring for my mother. My faith and my family help me keep going. These challenges have taught me to ask for help, recognize my limits, and lead with greater understanding for what others may be going through.
As you know, we’re big fans of Visitinghome LLC and Visitinghome Medical. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
VisitingHome is rooted in a simple belief: people deserve to feel safe, respected, and cared for in their own homes, and their families deserve support they can trust.
Through VisitingHome LLC, we provide non-medical home care, helping seniors and adults who need assistance with personal care, daily routines, meal preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, and respite for family caregivers. Through VisitingHome Medical, our ACHC-accredited home health agency, we offer skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to support recovery and help patients manage their health at home. We serve communities throughout Southern California, including Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties.
What sets us apart is the perspective behind the care. I am a registered nurse, but I am also a daughter who has struggled to find dependable care for her own parents. I understand both the professional responsibility and the emotional weight of trusting someone with a loved one. That experience shapes our approach to communication, caregiver selection, and accountability.
We recognize that every home is different. Good care begins with listening—understanding someone’s routines, preferences, culture, and what matters most to them. Our goal is to support their independence while preserving their dignity.
What I am most proud of is building a brand that reflects those values and expanding from non-medical support into skilled home health services. Earning ACHC accreditation for VisitingHome Medical was an important milestone and represents a great deal of work and commitment.
I want readers to know that asking for help does not mean giving up your role in caring for someone you love. Sometimes, it allows you to spend more time being their daughter, son, spouse, or friend. VisitingHome exists to help make that possible.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my faith, my family, and how I treat people. My faith keeps me grounded and guides the decisions I make, both personally and professionally. It reminds me to lead with compassion, honesty, and respect, especially when things are difficult.
Losing my father, caring for my mother, and becoming a mother myself have deepened my understanding of how precious time is. I want to build something meaningful, but I also want to be present for the people I love. That balance is something I continue to work on.
Through VisitingHome, those values become part of my work. The people we care for are someone’s parent, spouse, or loved one, and they deserve patience, dignity, and dependable support. Our employees also deserve to feel valued and supported.
Success matters to me, but so does how I achieve it. I want to look back and know that I cared well for my family, treated people fairly, and built a business that made a meaningful difference in their lives.
