Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Rose Charbit.

Hi Dominique Rose, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Paris in a family of entrepreneurs, which instilled in me a love for creativity and an instinct for business. While studying at college and at the University of La Sorbonne, I began working in a renowned fashion boutique. At the age of 20, I joined a prestigious interior design showroom in Paris, an experience which deepened my appreciation for aesthetics and retail.
A year later, I moved to the USA to pursue my dreams with an adventurous spirit. By the age of 23, I launched my creative career with my own fashion label. When I turned 25, I opened Dominique R., my first concept store, where I introduced emerging French designers to the American market and later expanded to include U.S. talents. My success drew local media attention, allowing me to host and produce a live fashion segment while simultaneously expanding my retail presence..

After 16 years, I sold Dominique R. and I embarked on a new journey to Los Angeles, where I launched D Agency Inc., a PR and brand development agency specializing in fashion and lifestyle. My focus was on connecting American designers with the European market and vice versa. This venture expanded into international furniture and design, including a satellite showroom in Cannes.

In 2016, seeking a more serene and purposeful lifestyle, I embraced Mediterranean living on the Balearic Islands. I eventually founded World of Dominique Rose LLC in Miami Beach and D R magazine, a curated online platform that blends fashion, interiors, travel, and wellness, emphasizing laid-back luxury. As demand for my interior design expertise grew, I felt inspired to evolve once again. Today, with BAREFOOT LUXURY Living™, I merge interior design, fashion, lifestyle, and branding to create immersive atmospheres that exude quiet luxury. From soulful interiors to pop-up activations, every project reflects my belief in storytelling, curation, and experiences that not only engage the eye but also nourish the soul.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe those challenges shaped my journey and gave depth to my work. Leaving Paris on my own at such a young age and starting a business in the U.S. with no network was daunting, and I had to learn quickly, adapt, and build everything from scratch. There were moments of financial uncertainty, cultural adjustment, and pressure to prove myself in a new market.

Selling my concept stores after 16 years was bittersweet, but it was also a reminder that success often means knowing when to let go and evolve. The same was true when advertising declined for my magazine after the pandemic era. I could have seen it as a setback, but instead, I pivoted toward an interior design and lifestyle concept, blending all the skills I had accumulated.

Each struggle became a catalyst for reinvention. What sustained me was a belief in creativity, storytelling, and building experiences that matter. The journey hasn’t been linear, but it has been rich, and it taught me that resilience and vision are as essential as talent.

My business is called BAREFOOT LUXURY Living™. It is a curated design house and multidisciplinary studio that blends interior design, creative direction, and brand development.
What makes us unique is our philosophy of ‘quiet luxury, design that is soulful, intentional, and timeless rather than trend-driven. I specialize in creating immersive atmospheres, whether that’s an interior project, a retail pop-up, or a brand concept. My work is guided by an original framework I call Eight Atmospheres, which allows me to translate a client’s story into a tangible mood and experience. We also offer a dedicated e-design platform tailored to modern condo living, making refined design accessible and intentional.
What sets me apart is my multidimensional background; I don’t just design spaces, I also craft narratives. Having worked across fashion, interiors, retail, publishing, and brand strategy, I understand how to build a world that people want to step into. That’s why my clients come to me: not only for serene interiors, but for the complete atmosphere and story that surrounds them.
I am especially proud of how BAREFOOT LUXURY Living™ is reinventing retail through immersive capsules and pop-up activations. These curated displays allow people to experience design and lifestyle in a very personal, memorable way. At its heart, my brand is about creating beauty with purpose, spaces, and experiences that feel effortless yet deeply considered.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is not defined by titles or numbers, but by alignment. It’s when my work reflects my values and creates a meaningful impact, whether that means transforming a client’s home into a sanctuary, helping a brand tell its story with authenticity, or curating an experience that lingers in someone’s memory. Success is also about elevating daily living through design, fashion, and loungewear, giving people a sense of style and self-confidence that feels effortless. Ultimately, when you take pleasure in your work and see it enhance the way people live and feel, that is true success.
