Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Fine.
Chloe, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Clean Dough didn’t start as a business idea. It started on their first date, when Jake promised Chloe he could make her the best chocolate chip cookie dough she had ever tasted all while being actually healthy. Jake had been telling Chloe all about his new baking habits, which she was impressed by but had to break it to him that 1: she didn’t have a huge sweet tooth, and 2: she was vegan. Jake quickly accepted the challenge and showed up on the second date with a brick of cookie dough he had tweaked to meet her restrictions- blowing Chloe away with a cookie that baked and tasted like the real thing. Jake admittedly knew right away that the dough was special, as was his new relationship with Chloe.
Jake had been taking his health seriously for years, cooking every single meal for himself and figuring out exactly what fueled the body. He grew up in the kitchen with his mom, so he understood the basics, but those hours he spent daily making food with simple ingredients that tasted amazing over the years refined his abilities. It became his outlet, he loved entertaining and sharing his love for food with people. He set out to make the best tasting, healthy cookie that still tasted like dessert, all while being nourishing enough for breakfast. That was the chocolate chip cookie that started it all- just a simple desire to share with those around him.
Last christmas he started joking with his Mom and sister about starting a cookie company, fresh off of graduating from USC with a 5 year architecture degree. This Christmas the cookies are being shared with people all over the country. Sold in stores in Miami, New York, Chicago, Oklahoma, Texas, and of course, LA. Chloe and Jake, jumped head first into a new life and new company in the beginning of 2025. Some of their beginning core memories are sitting next to each other and working out the branding. Both being creatives and fluent in design the brand vision quickly came to life, and people loved it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth- neither of us knew what we were getting ourselves into, and that’s probably a good thing. Even 4 months ago we had no idea what we were doing. We are learning and improving every week. As things have really started to ramp up over the past couple months, Chloe has simultaneously been dealing with an extremely debilitating chronic pain condition called trigeminal neuralgia- a rare and excruciating nerve disorder. There are days when she can hardly leave bed. Talking, eating, and even just breathing can trigger unbelievable episodes of pain.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We make the most nourishing cookies and cookie dough ever. Almost all the products on the shelves claim to be clean, but in reality are still loaded with ingredients that aren’t great for you, or taste like cardboard. Clean Dough is different – we tell people there are no wasted calories. Each ingredient was purposefully selected to nourish your body. Our ancient grain base is freshly milled einkorn, the world’s original wheat that has never been hybridized. It’s the first crop humans ever harvested thousands of years ago and so our bodies actually know how to digest it. Its loaded with protein, fiber, and all these vitamins and minerals like betacarotene and lutein. We really believe (and have already seen) it has the ability to change people’s lives. We sweeten it naturally with maple and coconut, low glycemic, mineral packed sugars that our bodies thrive off of. And source all of our ingredients organic/regenerative of the highest quality. Partnering with and supporting some really great American farms.
What are your plans for the future?
2026 is exciting- we feel like we’re really starting to find a groove and have worked out the kinks in our supply chain to be able to start growing this company and getting these feel good treats to be more widely available. We are very passionate about what we do and can’t wait to continue to change more lives and have fun building this brand, it has been the most challenging but rewarding thing both of us have ever done.
