Hi Wanda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From 1990 to 2000, I worked at a small CPA firm in Encino, starting as a receptionist and gradually becoming the office manager and staff business manager. During this time, I noticed a significant demand for knowledgeable bookkeepers in the small business sector. With determination and perseverance, I launched Anything-U-Want, Inc from my garage while raising a 3-year-old as a single parent. The company focused on providing bookkeeping and administrative support to small businesses. As word spread, my client base expanded, and I rebranded the corporation as Your Accounting, which has been trademarked. Over the last 23+ years, we have grown into a team of 10 dedicated employees, gaining expertise across various corporate accounting structures, including professional and medical services, manufacturing, online sales, and more. In 2016, we introduced Your Payrolls, a division of Your Accounting, to process payroll for our clients. Today, our passion for assisting businesses in achieving financial focus and structured growth remains as strong as ever.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey wasn’t without its hurdles. One of the earliest challenges I faced was a discouraging comment from my high school accounting teacher, who doubted my potential to attend college. This only fueled my determination to succeed. Running a business is no easy feat, and financial struggles persisted in the initial years as I grappled with marketing and growth. I found myself living on credit cards to keep the business afloat. However, joining networking groups eventually paid off, and branding efforts started yielding results. As time passed, I had to navigate issues like high accounts receivable, low bank balance, and the stress associated with meeting payroll deadlines. Seeking guidance from a business coach and reading “Profit First” by Mike Michalowicz transformed my business model and outlook. I now share this book with start-up businesses to help them overcome cash flow challenges. The most significant revelation came when I realized that building an exceptional team was essential for sustainable growth. Today, I take immense pride in the amazing team that works alongside me, allowing us to accomplish more together.
