Exploring Life & Business with Tynan Mason of Higher Grounds Mgmt & The Parent Warrior Project Podcast.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tynan Mason.

Hi Tynan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has always been driven by one simple belief: **Every child, teenager, and young adult deserves an opportunity to succeed, and every family deserves the latest & greatest evidence based tools and support to help make that happen. Efficient & cost effective behavior intervention shouldn’t be gate kept nor hidden information. There is no need to over complicate very attainable solutions Before founding Higher Grounds Management, I worked as a gang intervention specialist & juvenile probation officer, designing evidence based programs to reduce the recidivism rate saving tax paying dollars. I witnessed firsthand how behavioral challenges, substance abuse, poor decision making, and a lack of structure could derail a young person’s future. What became increasingly clear to me was that many of these young people didn’t necessarily need another lecture, another punishment, or another diagnosis or “talk therapy.” They needed consistent guidance, accountability, positive reinforcement, parent support & coaching and someone who genuinely believed in their potential.

Equally important, their parents needed stricture and accountability too.. Nothing changes until the parents change their approach first.

That realization helped shape what would eventually become Higher Grounds Management, award winning behavioral intervention & family therapy..Both in-home & virtually nationwide.

I recognized a significant gap between traditional weekly therapy sessions and what was actually happening inside the home during the other 167 hours of the week. Families were investing considerable time, money, and emotional energy into getting help, yet many were still struggling with the same behaviors, unhealthy patterns, and daily conflicts.

**I wanted to create something different. Something practical, personalized, measurable, and sustainable.”

Higher Grounds Management was built around that vision, saving families, times, money and stress.

Today, we provide customized, evidence informed behavioral intervention, parent coaching, mentorship, executive functioning support, and accountability systems for children, teenagers, young adults, and their families. We are challenging the old outdated “talk therapy” and prescription medication modes. We are not against traditional therapy nor medications however the data is clear that there is in fact more we can do to help expedite helping families.

Rather than focusing exclusively on what happens during a weekly appointment, we focus on what happens in everyday life, where habits are formed, boundaries are tested, and meaningful change takes place..

Our approach incorporates behavioral data tracking, positive reinforcement, structured accountability, and collaboration with trusted doctors, clinicians, therapists, and board certified behavior analysts. We help families recognize patterns, understand the functions of behavior, and develop practical strategies that create healthier relationships and more predictable home environments.

And because no two families are alike, no two intervention plans should be identical.

What began as a mission to help struggling young people has evolved into a much broader ecosystem of support, hence the awards and currently scaling the new model nationwide.

Today, Higher Grounds Management serves families throughout Southern California and provides virtual coaching and behavioral support nationwide.

We also developed our **Digital Detox Ranch on California’s Central Coast**, where children, teenagers, and young adults can step away from their screens, reconnect with nature, develop healthier routines, and rediscover the importance of gratitude, responsibility, relationships, and real world experiences.

Recognizing that not every family needs or can access intensive one on one services, we’ve also expanded into online educational programs, including our *Back on Track* courses and free parent webinars These resources help parents begin implementing healthier boundaries, improving communication, and establishing accountability in their homes.

Another incredibly meaningful extension of this mission is **The Parent Warrior Project Podcast**, built around the message *“Turning Worriers Into Warriors.” We help parents go inward to stop parenting from a place of fear, exhaustion or guilt, instead parent from a place of strength, love, creativity and consistency.

Through conversations with parents, professionals, educators, and individuals who have overcome significant challenges, we provide free education, encouragement, and community connection. We want parents to understand that they aren’t alone and that meaningful change often begins when the adults in the home are empowered with the right tools.

Giving back has also become an essential part of our business model.

Through our 501c3 nonprofit, **Journey Home**, we help extend mentorship, educational support, behavioral intervention resources, and opportunities for personal growth to families who might otherwise struggle to access them. A portion of Higher Grounds Management’s proceeds helps support this mission because I firmly believe that access to meaningful support shouldn’t be determined solely by a family’s financial circumstances.

Looking back, I’m proud of the recognition we’ve received, the relationships we’ve built with trusted professionals, and especially the testimonials and Google reviews from families whose lives have been positively impacted by our work.

But the greatest reward has never been an award or a business milestone.

It’s seeing a teenager rebuild trust with their parents. It’s watching a young adult rediscover their confidence and purpose. It’s hearing a mother say that, for the first time in years, her home feels peaceful again.

Those moments remind me why I started.

**Today, my mission is bigger than building a successful company.. It’s about changing the way families approach behavioral challenges, making effective support more accessible, and helping the next generation develop the skills, resilience, and accountability they need to thrive. All of which is evidence based and should no longer be gate kept nor hidden information.

At Higher Grounds Management, our philosophy is simple:

**Beyond Therapy Real Change”

And we’re just getting started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I quit my cushy government job about 9 years ago with the vision to start both companies.. Within the first year of trying to start the company I was nearly 50k in debt and receiving help from the state to be able to feed myself. Along with a broken heart I reached rock bottom questioning myself if I had made the right decision. Most of my friends and family said I was crazy but that’s exactly how I knew I was onto something special As the saying goes, If people don’t question your dreams and call you crazy then your dreams aren’t big enough. And so the story unfolds.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Higher Grounds Mgmt & The Parent Warrior Project Podcast. ?

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is to **find your purpose, trust your vision, and surround yourself with people who share your values.** Don’t start a business simply to make money. Start because you’ve identified a problem you’re genuinely passionate about solving.

When I started Higher Grounds Management, I knew families needed a more practical, accessible, and evidence-based approach to behavioral intervention. I didn’t have all the answers, but I believed in the mission and stayed committed to finding better solutions.

One thing I wish I’d understood earlier is that **you don’t have to do everything yourself** Find mentors, collaborate with people who are smarter than you in their areas of expertise, and build a team that complements your strengths. To date, we have scaled the company to 8 different cities and currently support many other states nationwide in our virtual program, often traveling in person out of state to ensure families are able to complete the program successfully.

Don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo, but make sure your ideas are supported by evidence and measurable results. Listen to your clients, remain humble, and never stop learning.

Most importantly, **focus on making a difference, not just making a living” When you consistently deliver value, build trust, and genuinely improve people’s lives, the business has a much stronger foundation for success.

**Success isn’t just about what you build….It’s about the positive impact you leave behind.”
