Today we’d like to introduce you to Maudy.
Hi Maudy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a first generation daughter of Salvadorian immigrant parents. El Salvador and my culture are engraved in my heart and blood. In 2023 my mom got injured at work and that’s the year I decided to start La Quesadilla Chelita. We weren’t going to let life defeat us. Instead, we became business owners! Salvadorian proud Entrepreneurs!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing worth it is easy! Owning a business and having people believe in your product takes time, dedication, but most importantly it takes love for what you do to really allow your business to stand out. We have had sleepless nights and long delivery days to put our quesadilla out in the community. We want the world to enjoy it!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about La Quesadilla Chelita?
La Quesadilla Chelita is a Mother-Daughter Salvadorian owned business established in 2023. Our mission is to show case the beauty of El Salvador and what better way to show that then with delicious pastries and food. We pride ourselves in representing Salvadorian women; which are hard working, resilient, beautiful, determined Queens. One taste of our Quesadilla takes you back to your childhood in El Salvador. With the support of God, family and community our business has flourished! Our Quesadilla has even stared in a short film called “Buenos Modales”. She is the star of our business. We hope to one day have a Salvadorian retro Diner, blending our love for El Salvador and everything vintage and retro.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
You have to take risks in life. With God by your side you can’t fail, you can only learn. I’m a huge believer in taking risks and walking into rooms where you once thought you could never walk into. I don’t want to look back in 10 years and regret not taking this huge leap of faith and starting our business. Just like Queen Esther, “Perhaps this is the moment, for which I have been created!”
