Today we’d like to introduce you to Lennon & Victor Ramirez.
Hi Lennon & Victor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
San Gabriel Valley Paella began back in 2021 simply as us cooking paella for family parties, only really asking the cost of ingredients, enjoying the party as we (mainly paella Chef Victor, my father) would cook paella and chat with our friends and family- simply cooking and enjoying the party. That changed in May of 2021, where we were offered a bit of extra cash to cook for another family friend’s party. From there, SGV Paella was born. Officially adapting the moniker in August of the same year, we started doing more gigs around the SGV and Inland Empire, slowly branching out from family and friends to our lovely clients around the greater Los Angeles area, eventually becoming the company we are today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have faced several obstacles and challenges, small and large alike, as catering is no easy feat. For example, one time we were catering a corporate gig, and paella chef Victor was struggling to balance our largest pan and the second largest, and eventually he tasked me with focusing and taming just that pan while he focused on the other two paellas. Additionally, we had other struggles with personal issues like us moving from the Pomona to Ontario, then way over to Lawndale, then to Hawthorne, and in all honesty, each time we moved we had to make sure we had room to store our equipment, especially when moving from Lawndale to Hawthorne.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We’re unlike most other paella caters, especially the larger local names. The largest difference is that we do not offer tapas, which allows us to focus purely on the paella and the comfort of the client, and we have, and always will, bring an orchid to every event, the centerpiece of our serving table decor. We always have and will continue to put the client first,
Any big plans?
Currently, we mainly are focused on expanding our clientele here in the South Bay and West LA areas, and we always focus on improving our recipe and quality of our cooking.
