Exploring Life & Business with Lauren Imbruglia of Deeply Rooted

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Imbruglia. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Lauren has been a French teacher for almost 20 years and just recently retired from it.

When Covid hit in March of 2020, many people turned their thoughts toward enhancing the comfort of their homes. Home equals sanctuary. Sanctuary equals peace and safety, and peace and safety equals wellness. Founded in 2021 by Lauren Imbruglia, Deeply Rooted is bringing the ideas of sanctuary, peace, safety, and wellness to their community members by inspiring local customers to start or cultivate home sanctuaries of their own. Lauren is the mom of three adult children and two bulldogs. Slowly and surely, she added plant mom to her title! She wanted to help her husband breathe better after his Covid experience, and knowing that plants bring more oxygen into our home spaces, more beautiful greenery was added to the household. Our main goal here is helping you make your spaces more serene and healthy through the use of indoor plants, small trees, succulents, and beautiful and fun plant care items. We believe in creating a more sustainable earth for everyone and encourage everyone to add a little green to their lives. Our team is more than happy to help with plant selection and general advice. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When existing as a pop-up, lugging everything to the events was definitely a struggle. My husband also had to coexist with our bedroom looking like a jungle at times. I found myself limited by space and time since I was still teaching. Once I decided to jump into having a brick-and-mortar location, I started moving my inventory there and retired from education. We have been open a month, and it’s going quite well!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are well aware that people can buy plants at the supermarket or big box stores and the like, but they seldom have success. It’s not that they are at fault, but oftentimes those places aren’t taking care of the plants properly while the plants are in their care. They can have pests and just not be thriving. Even if they’re in decent shape, customers rarely get any advice on how to care for the plants in their homes.

When a customer enters our shop, we talk about their confidence and experience level with plants, what their light situation is at home, do they have pets, etc. Our philosophy is that plants are for everyone, and everyone CAN have a “green thumb”, given the right information and tools.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my most favorite childhood memories was going to a “dude ranch” with our other family friends. When I look back now, it was like Dirty Dancing, without the dancing!
