Exploring Life & Business with Laura Osuna of La Dolce Vita Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Osuna

Hi Laura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Los Angeles, raised in Boyle Heights surrounded by a big family with deep roots here since the 1840s. My family’s history is rich with creativity—my grandfather was a master carpenter who worked with Hollywood icons, and my grandmother, a seamstress who manufactured for Edith Head. Growing up, I spent time in LA’s garment industry with my Father who was a pattern maker for various brands. He encouraged and was an example of doing what you love.
I studied Chemistry and Fine Arts at CSULB and fell in love with Long Beach. The spa incorporates traditions from my great-grandmother, like hot stone massages and eucalyptus wraps, while offering modern luxury and wellness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been anything but a smooth road. Along the way, I’ve faced some significant personal and professional challenges. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, tore my Achilles, and survived three floods, all while trying to grow my business. I’ve made my share of business mistakes and had to learn some really hard lessons.
Each challenge taught me something valuable—whether it was patience, adaptability, or the importance of family. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been a lot of fun.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about La Dolce Vita Spa?

We specialize in couples’ experiences, offering massages, body scrubs, and private tub soaks designed to help our guests reconnect and unwind together. Beyond just couples—we’re proud to welcome friends, besties, and the LGBTQ+ community, ensuring everyone feels celebrated and cared for.

What sets us apart is the combination of our personalized touch and vision of creating a space for our community. From using food-grade, skin-nourishing oils to highlighting ingredients like saffron for its skincare and mood-enhancing benefits, we pay attention to the small details that elevate our services. Our spa is also pet-friendly, offering unique experiences for humans and their furry companions!

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating a space that values not only relaxation but also connection, tradition, and community. Our spa is deeply rooted in my own family history, inspired by generational wellness practices like hot stone massages and herbal wraps, and medicinal extracts.

For readers, I want you to know that we are more than a place to get pampered—it’s a space where hardworking professionals, teachers, nurses, and all those who give so much of themselves can come to restore balance and feel truly cared for. Whether you’re indulging in a solo soak, enjoying a couples’ massage, or bringing your doggie for a unique spa day, we’d love to welcome you into our little oasis where love, self-care, and connection take center stage.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I’ve always been a patient person, but knowing the value of speed mixed with patience. Knowing your why’s, and that your why can continue to evolve and that’s okay. Understanding that business is a marathon not a sprint and that there will be challenges to overcome every step of the way. Knowing that challenges are a gift that give you opportunity to grow. And The most important, don’t sign anything without a lawyer reviewing it!
