Exploring Life & Business with LaTora Tianna of Tianna Swim

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTora Tianna.

Hi LaTora, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

I have a bit of a cliche story, but none the less my story is my story. Once upon a time, lol just kidding, ok I am an LA native, South Central Los Angeles to be exact. 90’s baby I am 27 years old I went to school at The Art Institute of California – Hollywood. Throughout college, I worked various jobs like Starbucks in the morning, taking classes at school during the day, and working at nightclubs doing bottle service at night on the weekends. With that hectic schedule, I managed to put myself through school in full and graduate earlier too, while managing to pay LA rent, and yes, I am still sane. I graduated in 2016 with my BS in Fashion Marketing in Management and then soon after that, I got into corporate life. For four years, I worked for a major department store on their corporate side as a production coordinator. Long story short, got too comfortable at that job cause it was easy too and I didn’t have a plan B. I assumed that this was my career. Covid happens and the company I work for laid off 50% of their employees, including myself. While in quarantine, I was bored and depressed thinking of my next big move, my plan b so to say. So, I did… I became a small business owner in women’s swimwear and developed my Custom/handmade swimwear line called Tianna Swim. Right now, I’m still working a 9-5p in a field that’s not related and what I went to school in, but they got to pay the bills lol and running Tianna swim at the same time… hectic yeah, I know but it’s worth it because I want to work for myself and become my own boss a successful entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Growing up in south-central LA is an obstacle/challenge alone. Having to solely put myself through school finically

Being car-less in LA for years, lol. Working in nightclubs in Hollywood. Dealing with Covid and losing loved ones to this virus. Also, maintaining a healthy mental while in quarantine.

Having financial lows more than highs. The list can go on and on, but I don’t want to dwell on my lows.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Here at Tianna Swim, our goal is to create and design with all shapes and sizes in mind. Targeting the woman that wants to feel sexy and enhance all the right curves while staying fashionable. Swim Zodiac the first swimwear collection for Tianna Swim takes our favorite basic bikini or swimsuit silhouettes and elevates them. The collection marries the world of fresh and simple with the perfect amount of flash. You will feel enhanced by the pieces instead of feeling upstaged by them. The swimsuit makes you the eye-catcher, and the zodiac charms are amazing conversation starters. Every collection is designed with you in mind who’s; beautiful, impressive, resilient, fortunate, and creative. Tianna Swim is for you…

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?

Yes, integrity, persistence,

creativity, passion, self-discipline, a desire to Improve, and a commitment to learning. Those are just some attributes I like to live by and I encourage others to live by them too. Life is hard and starting a business is even harder, but you have to start somewhere to make it easier for you. There I go, being a cliche.
