Exploring Life & Business with Iris Chung of Eulogia’s Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iris Chung.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As cheesy as it may sound, I have loved music, and more so the way music made me move, since I was born. I grew up learning all the instruments, singing, dancing, music was in and out of me. Not until high school did I join the competitive dance team at Crescenta Valley, and it launched my career in the world of dance. Senior year of high school, we won our first 2 national titles for Large Hip-Hop and Small Hip-Hop at WCE 2022. Simultaneously, I was teaching a couple of kids at a local music academy, which acknowledged both my love for kids and my skills in teaching kids. Soon after, I was off to college. Right away, I took on my first internship at Offstage By GRV, a dance studio. It didn’t last long before I recognized I was unfulfilled academically in my program and socially by the people I was surrounded by. I did some research and came to find only 2 Music Industry programs here in LA, USC and UCLA. How funny to have rival schools pop up. I ended up getting rejected by UCLA and blessed with the opportunity at USC. It could not have been a better choice for what I was looking for. Academically, the program is so well structured with both educational and real-world opportunities. Socially, the Trojan network is strong like no other. One thing led to another, and now I am here at my last year while pursuing my dream of running my own dance studio, Eulogia’s Studio.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, and even now, there are still bumps along the way. As much as I wish things went according to plan, it never does. Learning to adjust, pivot, and improve was the greatest struggle of not only my business, but commonly all businesses.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Eulogia’s Studio?
It was clear from a young age that I loved music, more specifically, how that music made me move. Whether it was physically through the movement of dance or emotionally through the movement of impact, music formed who I am today. Not until I applied to the Music Industry Program at USC was I aware of the abundance amount of career avenues, monetary revenue, and even pain points. At the perfect crossway of preparation and opportunity, I came to open Eulogia’s Studio in March of 2024.

I believe that Eulogia’s Studio truly reflects that. To give more share more of our operations, Eulogia’s Studio is a dance studio that specializes in the K-Pop Entertainment/Music Industry. Apart from other dance studios, we pride our vocal classes with Instructors who actively train K-Pop idols in Korea, our Korean language lessons that provide certified level testings, performance opportunities within our communities, public/private auditions with top K-Entertainment/Music companies, and the list just goes on. If I could highlight one of my favorite aspects, it would be our monthly recordings. At the end of each month, our students get the chance to record a concept video of the dance they have been working on for about 4 weeks. We dress according to the color scheme, set up lights, and get this video up on YouTube for friends, family, and all to see. Not only are we able to track the students’ progress, but it is a great way to bond, form culture, and create community.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
With my beliefs, luck is presented as opportunity is met with preparation. I am “lucky” not only because I was blessed with the opportunities, but the abilities, skills, and experience necessary to take into action. When all synchronously takes place, people perceive that as luck, but there is nothing “lucky”, rather blessings.
