Exploring Life & Business with Brittany Maurer of Bronzed Beauty Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Maurer.

Hi Brittany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am the Owner of The Bronzed Beauty Bar located in Chino, CA. I am a business owner, mother of two and wife to an incredibly supportive husband. I started my spray tanning company in 2014 after working for another spray tanning company and seeing a void in how companies operated, the pure lack of good customer service and experience. I originally started my company as a hobby and a way to make some extra income and it was a way to be able to stay at home with my toddler at the time. I launched my business in the garage of my grandmother’s house, I know it wasn’t super glamourous but it was a start! I quickly realized that this was becoming more that just a hobby, I went from having just a few clients to spreading like rapid fire with rereferrals. I told my husband that I should take this more seriously and decided to go all in and make my hobby into an official business. At that point, I came up with a business name and hit the ground running. When we moved into our own home, I created an in-home studio and worked there for about seven years until I outgrow it and I set my dreams higher and opened my gorgeous storefront in 2021.

When I started taking my business serious, I worked NON-STOP 7 days a week from 8am-8pm or longer, I worked incredibly hard to build my business from a hobby and a way to make some extra money into a successful company that now allows me to no longer have to work a normal 9-5 job. Being able to be there for my children and family has been such an important part of my business.

My business goals from the start have been to give my clients an experience unlike anywhere else that they have been and the best luxury service in the industry! I love what I do, when I first started my company, I had no idea it would grow into what it is today. Having such amazing clients made it possible for me to continue to grow my business and to be able to accomplish my dream of opening up my very own storefront. I opened my dream storefront location in October of 2021. By being able to achieve this dream, I am now able to empower even more women and give them a safe place to come and unleash their inner Bronzed Beauty. Coming into our salon is like no other experience most of our clients have ever had. We changed the stigma of getting spray tan and shattered the fears and insecurities that most people have in getting completely undressed in front of someone. We strive for a body-positive environment where you feel welcomed and beautiful from the second you walk through our door.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Are any roads in life smooth? It has most certainly not been an easy road! I started my business all by myself, having zero experience or knowledge on being a business owner. It required a lot of research, self-learning, discipline, lots of cry sessions and determination to get to where I am now. I pride myself on being able to have built my empire and clientele with no real formal education or experience. Even accounting for the endless amounts of hours, blood, sweat and tears that I have put into the brick and mortar of my business, this journey has been worth it. There have been times that I wanted to quit or thought I wasn’t good enough or wondered why the clients weren’t coming in, but I pushed through and kept going. I learned to pivot and am constantly working on my business and trying to educate myself on how to do better always. My business has made it through some trials that most business owners will never face especially a pandemic. I was able to rise up after the pandemic and open my storefront when sadly many other businesses were closing theirs. Since opening my storefront, our sales have gone up and we are able to be more successful and we also now are in a position to give back to our local community and have partnered with a local fundraising company to help our local schools and organizations

We strive ourselves on creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone, we have a beautiful salon aesthetic that is one of a kind and glamorous, along with the way that we treat our clients is what makes the difference. We have our “House Rules” that include that this is a body-positive environment where you can come in judgment free. We truly provide a luxury experience for our clients, with a Mimosa waiting for them if they want one, our spray tan solutions are professional grade packed full of skin-loving ingredients that are organic and naturally based, our amazing body dryer that blows warm air to dry you after your spray tan application and what really sets us apart is our incredible in house-made shimmer setting powder! This luxury power helps our clients not feel sticky, helps to protect their tan and smells divine and is the literal final touch that keeps our clients coming back and even taking some home because it’s that good! Now that we have a storefront location, I was able to add so many other services all under one roof making it so convenient for our clients. The team of boss babes that work here all respect our mission and give everyone who comes in the best service possible.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
My company is always adding services to fit the needs of clients to stay on trend with the beauty industry so that we can offer our clients as many possible things all under one roof for the ultimate convince. Our long-term goal would be to open multiple locations one day to cater to even more people and to change the industry on how we treat clients. Our job is not to belittle or make a person feel like they are not good enough or beautiful enough, our goal is to bring out their natural beauty and make them feel more confident about themselves.
