Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Griffor
Hi Brittany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been planning weddings and events professionally for the last 15 years and my company turns 8 this year. My mom celebrated every holiday in a big way and we always had a lot of parties at our house growing up, so that’s where it all originated even though I fell into the profession and didn’t know this is where my path would lead!
I went to San Diego State University and originally started in the College of Business. My sophomore year I ended up on the College of Business Student Council in a position where I was in charge of hosting the annual award ceremony for that year’s rising business stars. I received so many compliments that it was the best ceremony they had ever had and I suddenly had this newfound talent. The College of Business Advisor then let me know about this major called Hospitality where I could study planning events! I went on to obtain my degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management with an emphasis in Event Operations.
From there, I earned the opportunity for a great job right out of college and to move to Las Vegas. I was doing events for the MGM Resorts International Corporate Sales Department in California, New York, Texas, and Canada. It was amazing but not my passion. In college I had planned every type of event imaginable through various internships and knew that weddings was what I really wanted to do. By happenstance, I met the Director of Weddings at the Aria Resort and she offered me a job on the spot to come do weddings. It was amazing and I was a rockstar at it. After Aria, I worked at The Bellagio and a local golf course redesigning their entire wedding department. I gained incredible experience in those positions combined with all of the knowledge and experience I gained in college.
Creating, owning, and running my own business was always the dream. My dad is an entrepreneur and I wanted to be as well one day. In 2017, that dream became a reality. I experienced working with some wedding planners when they would bring clients to the venues I worked at and I knew I could do a better job. “If they can get clients, so can I!” I said to myself. I worked two jobs while I went through the paperwork and process of starting a company. It only took a few months before I was able to book so many clients that I couldn’t handle working multiple jobs. There weren’t enough hours in the day and I needed to give 110% to the company. I wasn’t financially stable yet, but I took the leap of faith and knew I didn’t care if I had to eat Top Ramen every day, I would work hard enough to make it work. And I was right. My company blew up so quickly. I worked every minute of every day and very quickly became one of the top Wedding Planners in Las Vegas.
From there, I started getting opportunities to plan weddings outside of Las Vegas, and now have planned many all over the United States. Since Las Vegas is so close, I have been very fortunate to do many weddings all over Southern California as one of our main destinations.
Symphony Weddings & Events now has 3 employees at 10 independent contractors. I have built a company I am incredibly proud of – We are the most awarded Wedding Planning Company in Las Vegas.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, starting a company is never a smooth road. It requires A LOT of sacrifices and blood, sweat, and tears! Figuratively and literally!
In the beginning I had to work multiple jobs to be able to make a living until the company was able to bring in money. Even then, it took years to really make a profit which I was then able to reinvest back in the company and start hiring employees.
I had to put in so many hours and truly give everything to the company during those beginning years, that my brand new marriage suffered and I ended up getting divorced only a couple years in. (It was absolutely for the best though and I am WILDLY much happier now that I have found a supportive partner that shares in my dreams for the company!)
There have been growing pains with employees which has been one of the hardest to overcome. No one will ever work as hard as you at your business. The first time an employee upset a client, that was one of the most devastating moments for me. There have also been last minute call-outs and emergencies that I’ve had to learn how to manage.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I got into wedding planning because I figured out that I have a real talent for planning events. Then I found my passion for the people and how amazing it feels to be a part of such a beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime experience for each of my couples. If we can make an incredibly stressful process just a little bit easier for people, it’s all worth it. That’s why we do what we do.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am a musician! That is where the name came from. I play 4 instruments and music is very important in my life. The definition of a Symphony is an elaborate composition of various elements coming together to make one beautiful production. As a planner, I am the conductor and each wedding is a symphony.
