Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Haro.
Hi Adam, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Adam Perez Haro III and I love storytelling. I fell in love with movies at a young age. My grandmother spoiled us rotten when we went to the movies. We would spend the whole day watching 2 or 3 movies back to back inside the movie theater. This is where my visual literacy was embedded in me and my love for filmmaking was born.
Later in High School, I had an English Teacher who mentioned that I was a pretty good teacher. I never thought anything of it but that word of encouragement was a gift. I knew I wanted to study film in college and so that’s what I did.
After high school, I went on and earned 2 AA degrees from Santa Monica College; one in film studies and the other in film production. After graduating from college at age 21, it took me some time to figure out how I would essentially “make it” in Hollywood. I had worked on many school projects, such as short films, music videos, and open mic stand up’s; so I knew I had the skills necessary.
After College, I was still working a retail job to save up money for a camera, lights and more. After some time, I finally decided to become a freelance Photographer and Videographer. I invested in a 4k DSLR Camera and never looked back.
Now I am a small business owner. My company APHilms is a Multi-Media Production Company
APHilms is built on the founder’s ability to execute the roles of director, cinematographer, and editor simultaneously. This allows the company to produce high-quality media with the speed and lean overhead of a single-person crew while maintaining creative continuity across the entire technical chain.
APHilms offers monthly content packages and brand consultancy. This approach helps clients maintain a consistent digital presence through strategically designed visual assets that align with long-term marketing goals.
APHilms has established a robust procurement infrastructure, registering as both a prime and subcontractor for government contracts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the specific struggles and challenges I’ve encountered include:
Managing People & Emotions on Set: I had an experience on set where many people on the crew were doing multiple roles. In this case the actor was also DP like me. We should have scheduled a day for camera department to meet up and test out the gear but we didn’t. I pretty much went in blind. Thankfully lighting plans and shot lists were already created so I didn’t have much to do. I was so rusty it wasn’t even funny, the pacing, the set ups, the technical difficulties, everything was a mess. With all that being said, Don’t forget to breathe and always ask questions and adapt!
Technical Mishaps under Pressure:
One of my most notable challenges occurred on the red carpet for the film Uncut Gems. While shooting an interview with Adam Sandler for “Where is the Buzz TV,” the microphone my host was using was turned off to save battery and the audio wasn’t recorded. Thankfully I was able to get the audio from the Media Outlet next to me working for Arclight Theaters..
Project Failures:
When I was in College I was producing a first-time Directors project and unfortunately I’ve experienced the “embarrassment” of gathering a passionate crew for a production, only to have the final project “completely bomb”.
Networking and Access:
High-level opportunities; such as press junkets and major red carpet events, are difficult to access without established connections, requiring a constant “grind” to turn initial volunteer work into consistent professional bookings.
Despite these hurdles, I’ve have used my camera as an “ice breaker” to build a network that now includes major Industry Insiders, Influencers, Fashion Designers and successful media outlets like BlackinAmerica.com and WhereistheBuzzTV.
As you know, we’re big fans of APHilms. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Business Overview and Specialization
APHilms is a multidisciplinary multimedia production hub based in Mid-City Los Angeles that specializes in film, video, and professional photography. We are best known for our “unexpendable” production model, where we synthesize high-level creative direction with on-the-ground technical execution—often handling the roles of director, cinematographer, and editor simultaneously to ensure narrative consistency and operational agility. Our specialty lies in red-carpet media, high-stakes brand storytelling, and authentic narrative projects that amplify the voices of underrepresented groups, particularly within the Hispanic and Latinx communities.
What Sets APHilms Apart
What truly distinguishes us is our dual identity as both a creative powerhouse and a contract-ready enterprise. While many boutique agencies focus solely on the private sector, APHilms has built a robust infrastructure for government and public sector contracting. We are registered as both a prime and subcontractor on platforms like SAM.gov and Cal eProcure, allowing us to bring professional-grade cinematic quality to municipal and federal projects. Additionally, our agility allows us to offer integrated monthly content packages, transforming the way brands and influencers maintain their digital presence.
Brand Pride and Cultural Mission
Brand-wise, we are most proud of our commitment to “narrative equity.” We don’t just produce content; we advocate for authentic representation that moves beyond reductive stereotypes. We take immense pride in our leadership roles with the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) and our dedication to community mentorship through workshops with the Chicano Hollywood Academy. These initiatives allow us to share industry-tested wisdom on micro-budget filmmaking and vertical storytelling with the next generation of Chicano creators.
What Readers Should Know
Readers should know that APHilms is positioned as a long-term strategic partner for the region’s most significant upcoming milestones. We are actively targeting subcontracting opportunities for Super Bowl LXI in 2027 and the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Whether it is a high-fashion photoshoot, a narrative feature, or a large-scale public sector media campaign, APHilms delivers with a mission-driven focus on authenticity and technical excellence.
What does success mean to you?
I do not define success by the number of money in your bank account or materialistic possessions.
The way I define success means always finish what you start & never give up!
Life was a funny way of humbling us, and to quote Rocky “It’s not about how hard you can hit; Its about how hard you can get hit and get back up”.
Life can be cruel’ thus our personalities become consumed by negativity and anger. However, all things are possible through Jesus Christ! Just like the Grinch who stole Christmas, who had a tiny heart; Jesus can restore it and make it three times larger.
