Daily Inspiration: Meet Tyler Sopland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Sopland

Hi Tyler, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in a small farm town outside of Louisville, Kentucky. Growing up there taught me all about family values, and chasing my dreams. Early on, my parents decided I was ‘Too Cute Not To’ put me into a local community theater program. That program, hand in hand with watching “Home Alone” on repeat every winter season, made me dream to be on the big silver screen and make something of my creative habits. Today, I live in Los Angeles as the professional actor I’ve always dreamed to be. The world just hasn’t quite met me yet.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s probably as smooth as the emotional stability of someone after their favorite binge show is cancelled during their very first breakup- while also getting let go from their job- while also receiving some other bad news along the way. Let’s just say: rough on the inside and out.

I’ve lost family members dear to me, and time spent away from them while they were still alive that can never be recovered. I’ve had countless medical stresses that made me *close* to homelessness, and through all of that- I’ve decided to keep the mask on and keep pushing for the theatrical arts inside of me.

What’s the point of sacrificing if you’d eventually give it all up?

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Actor, painter, and occasional funny man. I love to spend quality time with my friends, and when I can, my family. I am most proud of the dedication regardless of the uncertainty that lay ahead of me. I’m starving for this career, and that sets me apart from most, you could say.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I’ve heard a lot of wishy-washy advice from people who are either not succeeding, or are giving up, or already have given up. If you feel that you’re receiving such advice, probably ignore it.

If you’re just starting out- basically you have to accept that you’re going to be hit with the most cutthroat rejections and events that test your dedication in the craft- and if you’re meant to succeed, those will only be tiny bumps in your path.

Speaking of your path, comparing yourself to others success will only get you inside of your own head. I often do this, too. I just have to remind myself that it’s my own story. I will succeed in the way I’m meant to succeed.

Alas, work as hard as you absolutely can without losing humility.

Finally, I’d like to thank my amazing manager Renee Story at Established Artists for believing in me and pushing me to be a better performer, and person. Xoxo.
