Daily Inspiration: Meet Ty Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Jones.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a self-made entrepreneur specializing in permanent makeup artistry. I’m from Los Angeles, I’ve grew up all over California in places such as Hawthorne, Torrance, Inglewood, Long Beach, Gardena, and many more places. Growing up, I struggled with self-acceptance because I wasn’t happy with my appearance, unfortunately I had very light and thin brows yet my family has beautiful thick bold brows. When I got to high school, I started doing research in makeup and semi-permanent makeup to learn how I could enhance not just my own brows but later down the line others as well. So for over eight years, I tried so many different things on myself, friends, and family until I finally gained the courage to become a certified brow artist and expand my clientele to help make others feel just as beautiful as they already are. Brows can truly make someone extremely self-cautious and also make someone look well put together without much effort.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, what successful business doesn’t have trial and errors? Thankfully I look at it as a part of my business’ testimony therefore one day, I’m able to help others along their journey in the beauty industry. Some of my personal struggles was the constant comparison of my work to others and not feeling as if I was good enough therefore I always pushed myself to do better. Getting better is always good but it’s not good to compare yourself to others because so many people have their own style of doing things and techniques. What matters is that your clients are happy and that you’re offering a service that has your clients satisfied and feeling better than ever.

Nik & Co is a permanent makeup artistry business that helps people enhance their looks to feel like the best version of themselves. Nik & Co specializes in brows which is a key facial feature that many people struggle with. Whether it’s offering temporary brows or a more semi-permanent solution, I am here to make your life easier and to help boost your self-esteem. My techniques focuses on complimenting different parts of the facial structure and how to bring focus to the favored parts of someone’s face. Brows can make a drastic different depending on the shape, color, and other brow components such as width and boldness of a brow. I’m proud that my brand is structured as building blocks for clients, currently focusing on brows and soon to expand to other solutions to help enhance other facial features such as lips. My brand isn’t created to cater to one specific crowd of people, rather it’s created to make all genders and ages feel welcomed to come and make their wishes reality.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
A lot of people don’t know where it stemmed from. It started from graphic designing, being able to create art pieces, I came across that I was fond of facial structures coming together when creating art, which led to me having an obsession with eyebrows! I also have very thin eyebrows so having first-hand understanding of the struggle to create them everyday, I was determined to help those who struggled like I did.
