Daily Inspiration: Meet Tay Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Robinson.

Hi Tay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a Bay Area native but as a teen, I moved to Dallas, TX. At the age of five years old, I discovered my passion for hair. I started doing other people’s hair at the age of 14 years old. I continued my passion and got my license in 2001. Years later, I started doing fashion shows, photoshoots, and celebrity hair. I always dreamed about moving to Los Angeles Country to pursue my goals of styling hair for red carpet events like the Grammy and Oscars, movie sets, music videos and more. In 2013 I decided to make the move and within four years, I achieved my goals. At one point, I started getting booked a lot for weddings. So, I decided to create my own Beauty Agency.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, things was smooth since I was already in the industry but once Covid-19 hit things changed. I had to shut the business down. When I open the agency back up, it was a struggle booking wedding with all the restrictions but now things are back smooth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Not only do I manage other artists but I’m a 26 years Hairstylist Vet. I specialize in Hair Extensions and event hairstyling. I’m more knew for event styling, but my hair extension clientele is picking up fast by word of mouth. I’m most proud of accomplishing all my goals as a hairstylist. What sets me apart is I exactly know how to style hair and you can see my passion in my work.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like that there a lot of opportunity in my industry. What I don’t like is the traffic.
