Daily Inspiration: Meet Samuel Clare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Clare.

Hi Samuel , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Utah in a small ranch. I rodeo & race motocross. Growing up always love to surf, make things with hands, fix bikes trackors etc. I spent 10 years in working professional in marketing and brand development.. when I had the business model of “SurfboyEra” come to me.. “SurfboyEra” was a saying I would use with some buddy’s for years (as it came from an experience I had while surfing) that basically means focus on what you can control, let go of the things you can’t. The ocean has a unique way of teaching us this.. the Buisness idea behind surfboyera was make a extreme sports focused brand- with heavy weighted garments (DPS) so that subconscious our customers would experience the benefits of DPS in everyday wear. We have a lot of research that proves that weighted textiles help calm us, help us focus, help us feel more grounded and present… this is SurfboyEra message and our product supports it 🤙🏽 I started in my basement 3 years ago and have grown a lot. This year 2027 we just opened our wholesale market, so that we can get into retailers all over the state. As well as in Hawaii, Florida etc.. our goal this year is to be in 100 stores/ surf shops by 2028.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have learned so much in 3 years… one of the biggest struggles has been up till this year it has been a one man show.. I’ve done all graphic design, product engineering, web development, social media, marketing, fulfillment, finances etc… we are a true cut sew bespoke company.. each one of our products I’ve had to spend months developing and designing.. it has been a big struggle to manage all of it, and self fund it. As every dollar we make goes back into the business.. but it’s extremely rewarding to hear feedback from our customers & community.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in marketing. Something unique about me is I personally do all our photography & video. I do all our branding and marketing material. I do all our graphic design. I do all our ads & creative management.. as a marketing consultant, I’ve always stood out to clients because I can do full stack marketing. From beginning to end so my view on project, products & business operations tend to be more wide. I can find holes others can’t.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Working. I grew up in a ranching/ farming community. I started working land at 7 yrs old. My favorite memory are early mornings 4 am with my dad or grandpa driving out to move water, feed and push cattle.
