Daily Inspiration: Meet Rolando Beckles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rolando Beckles.

Hi Rolando, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Started driving towncars and limousines in December of 2001 for larger companies like Celebrity Limo Service and CLS in Beverly Hills, California. After three years of hard work and savings I was able to start our own company. Since I was born in Panama City, Panama I decided to name the company Panama Transportation and Limo Service.

In March of 2005, Panama Transportation was established. Fully licensed and insured. We just celebrated our 20th year anniversary by opening offices in Central America.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Far from smooth. We survived the 2009 market crash, 2 recessions and 2 years of quarantine due to COVID in 2020. In addition, ride share companies such as Uber and Lyft were growing and acquiring most of our customers. Due to these factors, many of our affiliates and colleagues went out of business. When asked, why didn’t we go out of business like the others and how did we survive? There’s only one answer. Only by the Grace of God.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The Golden Rule: Treat others as you would want to be treated. Safety is our number one priority. I am most proud of our resilience. When other companies were struggling and going out of business, we had a choice. Give up or continue fighting. How does one work when there is no work? What sets us apart is our Faith. When things were down, we weren’t so quick to throw in the towel. We waited patiently for the market to improve. Our clients have been with us since the beginning because they understand that with us they have a company that is family based, trustworthy, reliable, excellent in comfortability and most importantly, safe vehicles and drivers.

What matters most to you? Why?
Loyalty and Trust. Because when someone is loyal they will be by your side during the good times and the bad. Most people only want to be around when you’re doing good. And when you fall, they move on instead of giving you a helping hand up.

In this line of work trust is very important. We drive very important people. They trust us with information, they trust that we’ll be where we say we’ll be and when, and most importantly, they trust us with their lives. Whenever someone gets in our cars, they’re putting their lives in our hands. Some even trust us enough that they request that we pick up and drop off their kids to and from school. That’s defines trust at its highest level. Our kids are our most valuable assets.
